I go to the trouble of throwing out boxes. Also, f*ck cd-checks. Digital downloads allow me the convenience of not having to get a no-cd crack.
I prefer having the box+manual+CD with me, but I normally go digital because it's alot cheaper.fudgebloodYeah, this is my main reason also for buying digital. I think that boxes just need a lot of space and im not really reading the manuals... well, i have few boxed games, and they just lying on the shelf collecting dust.... :\ Actually i though of collecting boxed games, but if im collecting i want it to be special, so i wanted to get all the limited edition boxes, but science i didnt found almost anything, i prefered not to collect at all.
The only times I buy via download are:
if the game is no longer available boxed,
was/is never available boxed,
is an online-only game I can't lend or sell (might not be worth playing in a few years),
or is a ridiculously low priced game I wasn't really sure about.
their has been a thread already made about this... well anyway.. personally i like the boxes but their getting worse and worse. Ill get boxes for oblivion starcraft and diablo but not css or l4d, i usually only buy boxes if they have a nice manual. Multiplayer games i like getting digitally because i can download them for all of my comps, but old games i always buy for collectibility (doom, wofistein, fallout etc)
I absolutely love collecting boxed games. Even these days when they're just in a DVD case. Some games like Mount & Blade/Elven Legacy etc. still include a larger than normal DVD case, a decent sized manual and even a map/poster!
I own over 100 PC games in those old school big boxes. Sure, they're wasting space but there's just something about them that I really like.
