Do you try your best to get the achievements or you play the game like if they weren't there? Most of the time i ignore them simply because there is no reward for completing them!

I think achievements might be the dumbest and most pointless things added to video games, ever. When they pop up during a game I'm like, "yeah, whatever..." Then again, I've never used gaming to enhance my sense of self.
I used to be big into them on 360 and got to around 40k but I've grew out of them now. I doubt I could be bothered to jump through all those hoops anymore.
As long as there's an actual reward attached to that achievement (e.g. BC2 you get more xp, gadgets or guns) and not some silly digital badge of honor.GooeykatThat's what i like about Team Fortress 2. A developer finally made good use of achievements.
DA:O has them and as far as I can tell they are pointless so I never worried about them. Now had EA offered discounts for the crappy DLCs as a reward for collecting them then I might have paid attention and not disliked the lack of content in the DLCs so much.
Achievements these days are just plain dumb and nothing worth praising about. I've seen some achievement unlocks just for playing through the first level of the game. Like com'on....really? Did the devs not expected you pass that level? Was it extremely tough? Or perhaps the game was released in such a crappy state...its an achievement on its own just playing it? */endrant

I think it's interesting to see how many people played until a certain part of a game. I often check out the Steam achievement stats.
Only 86% of Steam Torchlight owners entered the first dungeon, and only 66% defeated the first boss (which is encountered 25-30 minutes after you begin the game).
I play games to enjoy, but i do have to say once ive played through a game i like to get the achievements :)
I ignore them too. I just play for have fun. Miroku32
great!! but i can not do it ,, i want high achievement when i played a game.., but i agree with you ..
I don't much care for them, unless they are done like in Borderlands or New Vegas where you get a XP reward for achieving a set achievement. If the achievement is just a little badge that says "you killed 50 radioactive hamsters"... then, nope.... not really. I prefer if you get an actaul reward in-game.
I care for achievements only when i am awarded with something. like the milestones in TF2, or some achievements in the MMORPG i will not mention.
Also, sometimes when i am bored, i try to boost my gamerscore in GFWL by getting achievements so that i will have a large number near that little "G". other than that, achievements seem pointless.
