i dont play the sniper much in TF2. i always miss for some reason! The scout in Counter Strike is good though. i just think the scope is a bit too zoomed in TF2

i recently began sniping more in tf2 and im actually pretty good, and in css i suck lol
I love sniping... no better feeling in a first person shooter than pulling that headshot from a huge distance that you thought it was impossible... And it's really relaxing!
I LOVE sniping - any time I'm playing an action or FPS game I live for the moment I will get a sniper rifle (or whatever it is in that game). It's my absolute favorite part of FPS games, and sadly there's not many games that get it right. Onr of the best usages of sniping was an old game called "Armed and Dangerous", the sniping in that game was tweaked to perfection and served to do just what sniping is supposed to do - clear an area before you get there. Stalker is pretty good for that as well, and has some amazing sniper rifles (especially if you use a mod...).
I really enjoy sniping... I'm not the best tho as i usually play assault . I'd really like to see a decent sniping game with decent sniping missions. The 1 sniping mission you get in most fps is usually my favourite. I was really disappointed with sniper ghost warrior.owza48
How is that game btw?
My friend got it and said it was pretty crappy. NPCs seeing you through bushes and stuff.

Terrible! The AI is some of the worst iv seen in a game... I'm so glad I only rented it.
Check out the gamespot review it sums it up pretty accurately.
Sniping is fun, but not if you camp in one place where only 2 or 3 people may pass by.
Yes, that's what people do and no i'm not one of them.
I don't mind sniping so much, me particular I'm a run n gun gamer, I can't stand to do it myself. Only time that sniping really angers me, is when you're playing a specific game type that requires attacking objectives or physically doing something other than killing people. People will still sit there and snipe... I find this incredibly annoying when you could have another person actually helping out the team on the ground. Yes, they could be the best damn shot in the game and clear enemies really fast, but you do not find those guys often.
agreed.i mostly play as sniper in sp fps game if it allowes me.I love sniping... no better feeling in a first person shooter than pulling that headshot from a huge distance that you thought it was impossible... And it's really relaxing!

In single player games, yeah I enjoy the occasional snipe. Usually makes things easier to take out enemies from a distance before moving into a heavily guarded area, say in Crysis or STALKER for example.
But in online FPS's I find it very boring. I'd rather be where the action is, not hanging around at the back lining up headshots. Never used to enjoy it at all when I used to play Counter-Strike, and I don't enjoy being a sniper in TF2 either.
Sniping is really only fun in games where one can employ said weapon at the ranges intended.
I do quite enjoy grabbing a sniper kit in ARMA 1 or 2 and sitting at 600+ meters going for targets of opportunity and providing recon for my team(which is really the main purpose of a sniper). A key requirement is the ability to make sight adjustments(mildots or minutes of arc) to be able to adjust for bullet drop, elevation, wind, etc.
In the average FPS though I would say one acts as a designated marksman and I would not really refer to it as sniping.
You're using a sniper rifle, hence 'sniping'. Not that complicated.Sniping is really only fun in games where one can employ said weapon at the ranges intended.

On 360 i am a decent quick scoper in MW2. Only snipe in TF2 cause its the only guy i have a hat for thats not gibus or alien swarm hat. Body shotting with the awp is fun to piss people off in counter strike.
I dislike it in the multiplayer scene. Nothing more angering in BC2 than playing Rush on the offensive, and having half your team sitting in the woods doing nothing but selfishly wracking up the kill count.
The worst part is, the people who do nothing but snipe try to justify it by saying it's difficult. There is nothing difficult about sitting in the back of the map where people who are into the action don't care to look, taking aim unopposed and unpressured by the enemy, and firing (Note all of my sniping criticism comes from my experience in BC2). Stop saying it's difficult, stop doing it if you're on offensive on rush (Unless you're the ONLY sniper, then you can defense camp the armed objectives).
When I had to train recon to finish all my skills, the entire leveling was done using Thompson and M14, and when I unlocked the later sniper rifles, the only time I used them was with a red dot scope. I have absolutely no problem with the Recon class, the Motion Sensors help out tremendously. What I have a problem with are people sitting in the back of the map sniping and then trying to act like hot ****.
100% agree, Amen you worthless POS's sitting in the tree line when your assaulting... way to be part of a team.I dislike it in the multiplayer scene. Well yes but that's not sniping
Snipers move to one location make their shot/s and then clear out immediately to a far away location on the map and set up all over again
it depends on the game, if its bc2 i hate it. if its dod, css, or tf2 i think its quite fun and you can actually help your team (especially in DoD, i am always reminded of Saving private ryan when the sniper locks down a whole corridor of the battlefield, and you can do that in the game.)
Snipers can help the team in BFBC2, though. If you're on the defense team, your mission is to kill a certain number of dudes. If sniping is what you're best at, why not go for that. On the attackers side snipers can help by dropping a mortar on tanks, armed m-coms, snipe incoming defenders who try to disarm the m-coms, so on. And the motion mines are great.it depends on the game, if its bc2 i hate it. if its dod, css, or tf2 i think its quite fun and you can actually help your team (especially in DoD, i am always reminded of Saving private ryan when the sniper locks down a whole corridor of the battlefield, and you can do that in the game.)

Also, not to brag or anything, but I've shot down a few helicopter pilots with my Gol. 8)

You're right, there are always exceptions to any given situation. The mass majority that I've seen, I'm level 40 so I've played a bit, all suck and are always at the bottom of the charts with little points.[QUOTE="matty_patty1232"]100% agree, Amen you worthless POS's sitting in the tree line when your assaulting... way to be part of a team.I think i'll never understand why "camping snipers" get so much hate on Bad Company 2, but a "pro" player that uses assault and just camp behind a rock moving from side to side all day killing and increasing his K/D ratio is ok...I dislike it in the multiplayer scene.
