I saw a similar thread on a console forum, I figured it would be interesting to see what other pc gamers have to say. Basically do you get the most out of your purchase or just stockpile games that you play maybe a couple hours of? I have a tendancy to play all my games a good amount, the only ones that don't get played are the ones that are outright trash or I have beaten enough times that there is no replay value (console games only for this).

I play for fun, not for hours just because I want to justify my purchase.

Some games end up 10x worth their gameplay value, some a fraction of it.

I just play what I feel like playing. If I play it more I guess I get more value out of it but it doesn't matter most of the time. Value wise my worst buy was probably BioShock. Payed $50 for a 20 hour game I never played through again because there was no reason too.

well, right now, i have too many games to play, so i would say that i don't get the most out of the money i've spent. hopefully, that will be remedied in the near future.

but certainly, i get more value out of some games than others. naturally.

I tend to take my time playing new games. I explore everything I can find to explore. If the game has side quests then I try to do most of them, unless they are downright pointless, boring, or repetitive. Sometimes I will intentionally replay a level before moving on to do an alternative way.

For the most part I do feel I get good value out of my games. If you ever get bored there are often mods to download. There are only a few games I have ever bought where I felt I wasted my money. Like LotR Battle for Middle Earth, sucked so bad and it cost more then a normal game should >_> Damn EA...

I think with most of my games, I do. But that's not to say that I'm playing it for the purpose of getting value out of it. I play games to have fun, and so the more fun the game is, the more value I get out of it I suppose.

Some games I have played and I just can't get into them, but other games I play multiple times. Overall I would say I'm split between getting good value out of my games and "stockpiling" a bunch of rarely played games. Sometimes I do go back and play a game I had barely touched before and find that I love it, though.

I usually play till I get bored of it. Unfortunately thats usually after beating the campaign once and if its online playing that a few times. Its really hard for anything to keep my attention long. Same with console. I don't own a console anymore ,but back when I did I would only rent my games because there wasn't anything I would play over a week anyways.

I usually get the most value out of my games.

I rarely rent games so paying $50+ dollars for something, I'd better get that much value out of it.

Nope, too many games to play, too little time. Unless the game is awesome and worth replaying, I'm ususally done with it after one playthrough.

Do YOU get the most value out of your games?

Whiteblade999

It depends how much I pay for the game. The vast majority of $50 games are not worth it. A good $20 is worth it, even if it's kind of short.

No. If I don't like a game then forcing myself to play it is a waste of time.

Most games I play on multiple difficulties and if available, play mods and have a go at creating a map or two (again, if map creation tools are handy). So yeah, I think I do.

Depends on the game.

I can't stop playing Company of Heroes or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, but I haven't played enough of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to justify the purchase.

I think you'll find that, generally speaking, PC gamers have much more disposable income, so every individual game isn't really something to be cherished.

I play my favourite games again and again, but I have over twenty games I haven't even bothered to finish.

Similar situation here. There are a number of games that I have played soooooooo much. I've beat them and rebeat them many times. Then there are others that I actually bought and never even played. When I was younger I'd almost always play any game I bought, and I usually played very thorougly through the games. Nowadays... not so much.

I play each game a few hours and then might not come back to it for years, I only now came back to playing Capitalism II (a 1999 or so release) and have now gotten much more entertainment value out of it than I did when I first bought it. The same goes for the other 300+ games that I've stockpiled around here.
