If Alt-Tab doesn't work, Ctrl-Alt-Del brings me to the Shutdown/Run Task Manager Screen. I then run Task Manager and swing the cursor over to the Taskbar. I sometimes do this when I forget to run FRAPS.
I've got this before too. With some games, Alt-tab doesn't do anything. And if I use ctrl-alt-del to open the task manager, it'll bring me back to the desktop, but I won't be able to open the game again, without forcing it to end, and restarting.
A bit OFF-TOPIC: for those who have 2 monitors connected. When you are playing a full screen game, can you still somehow use the other monitor? What I mean is that can I be playing for example CoD on one monitor (full-screen), have the other monitor on these forums and then switch between the two?FelipeInside
Depends on the game. Usually your mouse will be locked to the main screen where the game is. The other monitor continues displaying whatever was on it, very rarely, some games turn it off. In order to switch to the 2nd monitor, you'll need to alt-tab. Some games however let you move the cursor to other screen when you're in menus, such as BF3.
Blizzard games have the best option, which is Fullscreen Windowed mode. I haven't seen any other company integrate this feature in their games and it's truly a shame. It basically makes the game look fullscreen, so no edges, but acts like a windowed game, easily access task bar and other monitors.

Not really, best you can do is play windowed. If your full screen most games will kidna alt- tab you out
I don't have a game yet that doesn't allow me to shift from the game to another running app. Most games I own have the option to play games windowed. I like FSX especially. It'll adjust automatically whenever I enlarge or decrease the window size by dragging with the mouse.

[QUOTE="trastamad03"] Skyrim doesn't... TF2 doesn't.... BF3 doesn't.... I believe you are lying or don't know what I'm talking about.Am_ConfuciusSkyrim has a window-mod, and TF2 has a no-border option built in. So it looks like you are the one who doesn't know what you are talking about. (All Source-games have a no-border option) Ok. Last time I played a Source game you had to input a line in "Set Launch"... I didn't know they have an option now in the settings. Setting it in the "Set Launch" isn't built-in though.
And yes, I know Skyrim has windowed-mode. It doesn't have a borderless windowed-mode though.
I also don't know why that other guy got so upset over my remark that more companies should use that feature. I don't go around install every game and test them out one by one, so if I miss one, sorry... Geez, hope you can sleep at night now since I apologized.
