^^question

There are a few games with good soundtracks. I would like to be able to keep the sounds so I could listen to them in a later time.

I've become a fan of certain game soundtracks, including Myst III: Exile, and Mass Effect, both by the incredible Jack Wall. The most recent one I've loved is the soundtrack to Machinarium. Really fantastic; excellent compliment to the game. Definitely worth looking around for great soundtracks.

All the time. My playlist is nothing but video game music and remixes from OCremix. And I do get many raised eyebrows when people ask "What do I listen to", but I do the same when they list their favorite genres. ;).

Fully orchestrated pieces with varying paces, varied instrumentation and even choral additions. That is real music and it has been for hundreds of years.

Yup, I like listening to them while I work since I need that sort of music to get my imagination flowing.

Ones I hear are Modern Warfare 2 (Hans Zimmer ftw), Assassin's Creed 2, Starcraft 2, Mass Effect and Mafia 2.

Yes. Game music is as "real" as any other kind of music. If they sound good, I'll listen.

not necessarily soundtracks, but the two things I love listening to (not PC) are the Hyrule Symphony "album", and the song Crystal Flash, by Virt. Crystal Flash is an awesome mix of Metroid music that this guy made. Heres a link to a youtube vid of it (the guy split it into two vids).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WynPvi2CVAU

Also I love Diablo's Tristram music, some of C and C's music, especially Hell March, and Goldeneyes music.

I will look at everyones suggestions and take them into account :). I found some soundtracks to be very boring, but some like the ones I listed above are just amazing IMO.

Definitely! In fact, I recently bought the soundtrack to VVVVVV, which is unbelievably catchy.

Other soundtracks I regularly enjoy (and recommend):

- Castle Crashers

- Tribes 2

- Quake 2

- Unreal Tournament '99

- Bejeweled Twist

- Full Throttle (soundtrack by The Gone Jackals)

And anything else that catches my ear!

No I don't. Not that there isn't some great music in video games. I don't know maybe a bit to geeky for my taste. Either way I've been known to listen to teen pop idols so I can't knock anyone's taste in music.

I really don't care about music or even graphics. But nowadays i play pretty much with the in-game sound tracks where i used to turn them always off and listen to my own music while playing games.

Nope, I typically don't even listen to the soundtrack while I play the game. Turning off the music is usually one of the first things I do when I begin a new game.

No, i dont like soundtracks, i like them in game, but never by themself.

I listen to music 60% of the day everyday, but i find music made to be just music and not for a specific purpose or for something to be better. Unless its rap...then i hate it no matter what.

This is a complete shot into the dark but i'm about to copy/paste this post in 50 other forums and hope for the best. I've been in a cold chase after this soundtrack for the last 10 or so years, fishing for any clues on how to find it. I've watched the web evolve around this elaborate search and had gotten closer and closer as yahoo changed to google but I never hit bullseye. The soundtrack I'm looking for is amazing, it's an orchestral action piece (most likely not MIDI) which i think accidently found it's way to a PC game.... It may have been composed for the game but i doubt it. I'm 95% sure the game was a submarine simulator (it may have been an aircraft carrier). I remember putting the CD in the tray and letting the music roll in the background while playing Worms, so this dates the simulator to around 1994-1998. If anybody has any idea what i'm talking about please help. I've already been through Youtube listening to the thin selection of sub sims soundtracks available. Been to www.laurasmidiheaven.com too to try my luck but to no avail. If you know what I'm talking about you're a lucky man and if you forgot and i made you remember it again through this forum then we both gain from it. Thanks, Tom.
