Do you need to have the right kind of power supply for it to work with your computer (as in, your computer won't be compatible) or does any old power supply work with any computer??? I am a computer noob so cut me some slack.

It all depends on your motherboard, cpu, and gpu... each has a power requirement needed to run the components... for most low to mid sytems today, anything between 430-600w works best...

I know that, i know that you need enough watts for your computer to run, what i want to know is if like, your need a certain brand of power supply or something, because it won't work with your motherboard or something.
Some mother boards are 20pin and some are 24 pin plugs, just make sure your power supply has the right connection for your needs. some power supplies are 20 pin + 4 for power and some are 24 pin. if you have a 20 pin motherboard make sure the motherboard plug is a 20 pin or a 20+4 pin, I have seen some power supplies that have a strick 24 pin connector
