I don't care if you like them, or if you use them, or if you think the keyboard and mouse is better and blah blah blah.
Do you own a PC-compatible control pad?

No, and I never will have one. If a game on the PC requires something beside the mouse and keyboard to be played on an enjoyable level for me, then screw that game. Yeah, you'd better believe that's harsh.JP_Russell
Wow, that really is harsh. I'm sure you won't see it this way, but I really think you're missing out. There aren't many games that require a pad, but some that do are absolutely excellent (like Sands of Time).

Yeah, if you pay for the game then why would you want to pay for more

That's what I'm talking about, when I first bought Sands of Time, I started playing with my gamepad, minutes later, I couldn't support the looseness of a pad, threw it out of the window and grabbed my KB/M.
No, and I'll never get one.
The reason I don't play console titles is because I hate the gamepad controllers.

I'm sure they are, but here's the thing. My desire to play games on my PC and my desire to use a mouse and keyboard go hand-in-hand. They cannot be seperated. In fact, more accurately, they're part of the same desire - the desire to have a PC experience. Playing with a controller is not a PC experience whether I'm on a PC or not. And it's only about once every year, year and a half that I feel an urge to play my old N64 or Playstation, so it's not often at all that I want to have something besides a PC experience.
B_L, your sig is awesome.

Don't thank me..thank the xbox360 forum.
To Fatshodan: Did you find it necessary to play POP with a game pad? I found the keyboard to be alright myself.
I own two wireless 360 controllers..mainly because I own a 360..
However, I also have a wireless receiver for the controllers, and I use my 360 controllers on my PC semi-regularly, for racing & fighting games. I'd never use them for any other genre. Even with games like Assassin's Creed, I much prefer KB/M.

I do have a game pad....but by today's standards it would be very old and probably wouldn't provide much benefit to any games out today.
The best use I ever got out of this gamepad was with Doom and Doom 2. It works well with emulators, but I haven't played those in years.....
I've got a Gravis Gamepad....this sucker has to be a good 10 years old now. It still works....well, still worked last time I used it a few years back with Doom 2.
Oooh ooh! I have two of them, since I prefer using controller to play games like Assassin's Creed, PoP, and racing games.

I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong or anything, if a PC-experience has to include a kb + mouse, I won't argue about that. I just think it's weird that when I play PoP on my PC, (use my PC hardware to render the game, watch the game on my PC-monitor and use my PC-speakers to hear what's going on) it's suddenly not a PC-experience (to you) just because I prefer a gamepad in that particular game. I guess we all have different definitions of what PC-gaming actually is.

That's just it ;) When some people think of PC gaming, they only think of flash games in a web browser for example. Although they really should be educated about what PC gaming can be about IMO :P the "PC gaming experience" or gaming on the PC definitely means different things to different people for different reasons.
Yes, I have a gamepad for my PC, many of them actually. I think I still have my old Gravis gamepad, Gravis Gamepad Pro, Gravis Xterminator (a real beast back in the day), Logitech Wingman Rumble, Playstation 1, Playstation 2 controllers etc.
These days I have 2 360 controllers that keep for use on my PCs (I don't have a 360). Although by far and away, most of my gaming is done with the venerable, but awesome, kb+m, I use gamepads for certain games/genres.
Considering that all games to PC are better played with keyboard + mouse than with a gamepad, I see no reason to get one. In all my years of gaming, I have only found fighting games to be played better with a gamepad (but they can still be enjoyed using a keyboard)ADG_
You should use "imo" after all of that. People might think you're stating facts.

Yeah, we do. Look, I definitely like it being on my monitor (which I prefer to the 50-something-inch, widescreen, LCD, HDTV we have for games by far), and I like it being on my 5.1 speakers, and I like it being on my custom built rig. I like that I'm at my desk, much preferable to my bed or a couch or the floor, where I game on my consoles. I like that I can quit the game and use this same machine to access all my non-gaming apps.
But the biggest part of the experience while in a game without a doubt is the control method, where it has at least twice as much weight as all those other factors combined. Playing a game with the controller would amount to the exact same gameplay as if I were playing it on the console. Sure, it might look a little different and sound a little different, but you're playing and controlling it the exact same way you would on the console, going through the gameplay in the same way, so it really isn't a different experience from what it is on the consoles at all. It basically is still a console game and a console experience with minor differences not influential to the gameplay.

I own a couple X360 for PC variants, must say not a bad investment. No, and I never will have one. Yeah, you'd better believe that's harsh.JP_RussellWith that mindset, you are essentially locking yourself out of titles that were designed around a gamepad. Titles like Prince of Persia, Devil May Cry, and Gears of War. Even though keyboard and mouse work in most situations, some games, especially platformers, are far more enjoyable (and immersive) with a gamepad. In addition, it helps when you play on the big screen : you can lean back on the couch and keep the controller snugly fit in between your hands.
