I choose Normal because LEDs with Window Panel make me hard to sleep at night when I leave the PC turned on.

I don't really care about LED's but a window panel is always cool to look at.

I like Blue LEDS, but not as much as performance. I would rather have 2 side intake fans than a side window. Some do come as such, but I am fine with my RC690.

I like side windows because it's neat to see what you've made. =)

I have an Antec 900, outfitted it with another 120mm side fan with LED's and 2 12" blue cold cathode tubes. So it's pretty damn bright, but I can turn off the cathode tubes with a switch on the back of the case.

I hate those windowed "gaming cases."

I really like HTPC cases. I've got my Pentium M rig stuffed into one of those cool HTPC cases. My main machine is installed in an Antec P182. I'd never, ever use a windowed case, especially one with lights. Just too damn tacky.

I buy cases based on the number of fan slots and other factors besides. It just happens that the cases most suitable by those factors ALL have windows and lights (at least LED fans). Like the Antec 900. I quite like the way they look, but it's not a buy or not buy decider. It's just that form follows function.

First thing I do with any new personal rig of mine is to clip a wire to every "for show" type of LED on all my parts. The case panel LED's (like HDD and power) are fine as well as mobo power LED. Since I keep my systems at eye level, all of the showroom LED's distract my peripheral vision. My current primary game rig is a nine hundred with enlobal fans (sans LED's) and a Zalman 9700 LED that I snipped a LED wire. On the Zalman thing I wanted the LED model for the manual fan control thats now gone with it's revised mobo controled version. I just didnt want the lousy light with it. ^_^

I think LEDs and windowed side pannel IS the normal now for gaming case. I like to see my components so yeah sure why not. I don't beleive in excessive case modding though, you guys do what you will it works for you, but for me I just want to play the games in high quality.

The rig I built in my thread has the ability to have all the lights turned off by switches in the PCI slots in the back. All the lights match, and I even changed the color of the LEDs on the front of the case to match all the lights inside. I don't think it is too tacky, but to each their own.

Build quality, cooling, silence, and aesthetics are more important thanwindows and LED's to me. Some cases look good with a moderate amount of lighting, and some cases have well-implemented windows - but it's all about how nice the case is and how much appeal it has rather than how flashy. Some cases can pull flashy off very well (Gigabyte 3D Aurora comes to mind) while still maintaining a degree of class and performance, while others fall flat on their faces (most Apevia and Raidmax cases).

I don't mind the window panel so much. It's the LED's that keep me up at night which pisses me off about most cases these days, since I pretty much need to run my computer 24/7/365. I'd much rather a normal looking case that remains unassuming, and/or use LED's that aren't blindingly bright when I'm **** trying to sleep.

The LEDs on the front of the Lian Li cases are crazy bright, but I bought some at Radio Shack for like $2 and replaced them. Now they are not nearly as bright (and you can choose color as well!)

If you can't sleep from your LEDs start sleeping with all the lights and your TV on like I do. Then you won't notice the LEDs.

In fact, if you live in a city enough ambient light comes through the window at night that you should barely notice the LEDs.

The main thing that matters is how much it costs. $100s for a case is a waste, a buget case works just about as good as a $200 one

My tower, right now, is in a little enclosure. I can't see the sides too well. And I vote no flashy stuff since sometimes I leave my computer on overnight and I have enough little lights on all the time.

Not even close. It was a painful experience going from the 3D Aurora to the RC690, and that's not even a huge step down.

That would just make it worse, and statistically, you're more likely to develop blindness faster that way... and blindness is basically a death knell for gamers. The hell you trying to do to me, man?
