My old comp....I just let it run.
Now I have a new higher end one that I'm very particular about.
Whats best for these?
Leave them on all day when I'm at work and what not or shut them down when I'm afk for more than a few hours?

Well, look at it this way: leaving it on all day would cause a jump in your electricity bill. Or at least, that's what I saw in mine :P
I'd suggest if you want to let your computer run all the time then get a very high quality and efficient power supply ;)My old comp....I just let it run.

Thats one of the dumbest things I'v read.
You think your computer will last longer by leaving it on all the time?
Mine usually runs for 2-3 months at a time, and I only turn it off/on if I need to update it or if there's a nasty storm.

This was actually what was recommended by computer companies back in the early 90's up to about 2002. The technology today isn't the same. Turning your computer off is the best solution when not using it. The heating cooling theroy isn't as significant as it was 10 years ago. Not to mention the statistics of turning your computer off at night is very significant in your power bill. Not really but I should. My PC is old so I never like to wait for it to start up lol. Its short-bus kinda slow.
Mine is always turned off if im away for more than an hour lolz and it boots up in like 20 seconds except that i have to enter the password
my old computer tho.. i dont care i leave it on 24/7

Yea ik! I mean you dont want your motherboard to crack or anything right?OMFGWTFBBQ!
Some people say your components will last longer if you leave your computer on all the time, some people say they will last longer if you turn your computer off at nights. The truth is, it's six and two threes, so do what you want :D I turn my computer off at night.
Anyway i turn mine off, it sucks too much juice and it's too noisy to leave on at night.markop2003That's exactly why I turn mine off. Plus it glows and lights up my whole room :P

I'm in this club lol. But if I have any updates downloading that take a while then I turn off the neon
Putting your computer to sleep will consume less than 5 Watts of use. The initial power draw from constantly turning on and off your computer will use up more electricity than putting it to sleep and awakening it. In either case the difference will likely be less than $3 per month.
I dont recommend leaving it completely on at night, if only because it does significantly decrease the lifespan of the fans in your computer. The rest of your components will be perfectly fine to handle the constant use. Fans even those rated at 150,000 hours, will often suffer at increased impedance due to dust. If your fans die or weaken, you may be looking at permanent damage to components.
i put it on sleep when i sleepmike4realz
smae here. Sleep mode is what I do, and restart it for updates
