I'm serious, they came out w/ quad-core cpus, its about time. Let me show you how I would see it work.

Lets take an dual-core version for an 8800gtx would work:

Here's the Basics:

Core 1:

(Specs)

Core: 575MHz

Shader: 1350MHz

Memory: 900MHz at 768mb w/ 384-bit interface (Bandwitdh: 86.4GB/s)

Texture Fill Rate: 36.8 billion per second

Priority (not in order):

Render Meshes (Models, Terrian,etc.):

Render Materials;

Render Textures;

Core 2:

Core: 575MHz

Shader: 1350MHz

Memory: 900MHz at 768mb w/ 384-bit interface (Bandwitdh: 86.4GB/s)

Texture Fill Rate: 36.8 billion per second

Priority (not in order):

Render Shaders;

Render Post - Processing;

Render Physics;

There's probably a million things wrong about this; so its up top you to reply to this thread:D

Well, it should be something like sli, but better support and I don't think sli or gx2 work like I said at my first post, not sure.

I may be making this up but I believe I heard the next set of cards from AMD were going to use multiple chips. Not exactly the same thing as multiple cores but very similar.

Hmm, maybe an HD2950? That would be interesting.

got there before me.

its basically 2 graphics cards slapped together but its considered the one card with 2 GPUs. my bro has that and its flippin brilliant.

if ure talking 2 GPUs on the one card...there was a voodoo card back in the day tyhat had 2 of them on the one card (2 seperate chips) i think. i think it was the voodoo 5 but im not sure.

if ure talking 2 GPUS on the one die like a core 2 duo.....i dont know. would be interesting to see allright. could definately improve inter GPU communication and perhaps make a technology like sli alot more efficent.

I agree, it's an excellent idea, I thing ATI did something similar. If Nvidia did that same thing with the 8 series, the card would be unstoppable.

Interesting news article. If I'm reading it correctly (its a little bit confusing so I might be), ATI is planning on offering crossfire systems on a single board. So one board multiple GPUs

And here is a little blurb about the R700 series ATI is putting together.

I think ati would come out with something like that. Ati is bent on innovation, while nvidia is more about power.

not to sound like a noob, but what's a die?half-pat92

basically its the whole processor unit. its a small slab of silicon that the processor is on (or etched into..whatever those crazy kida are doing these days :P). a die can have one or many processors on it.

heres a pic of one. this particular die has 4 processors on it
