Do you use a mouse designed specifically for gaming, or just a standard mouse? What make and model is it and how much did it cost you? Any other mouse-related opinions would go down well?

I use the Logitech Performance MX mouse. I paid around $70 for it on a special at Newegg.com.

Its not a gaming mouse really. Its technically more of an "office performance" mouse, but works equally as well for gaming with its extra buttons and features. The #1 reason i bought this mouse is because i love wireless mice but i hate, hate, hate dealing with batteries. This wired and wireless. I can plug it in to charge it and use it so its wired, then remove the wire and its wireless.

I use a Logitech G5 - I've been keeping an eye out for stores clearing them out as I'd like a replacement in case this one dies (although it's had a ton of use and has given me no problems yet). I just don't want one of the hideous purple crackled looking ones.

What is the advantage of using a gaming mouse? surely a mouse is a mouse... the only thing i can imagine being better is higher sensitivity so it can sense smaller movements.

i use a plain and standard old-school mouse. it looks fairly hideous with discolouration having a go at it but it has never let me down and it cost me the family friendly amount of absolutely nothing. for a while i was sort of hoping it would stop working and i would have to get a fancy gaming mouse but i'm sort of attached to it now and take good care of it as it stood by me through shameful defeats and helped me reach glorious victories ;)

better design, more buttons, debateable faster movement and response time. finally they look cool and occassionally have special support for various games kind of like how the ideazon zboard or the g15 has preprogammed buttons for some games.

their all around better than normal mice.. sure you can use them heck i had a normal mouse for ages but once you go gaming mouse you NEVER look back. you will debate using a normal mouse again.

They seem a little overpriced though for what they do, i guess a more ergonomic design is a useful feature as it will stop your hand/wrist from aching after long periods but when you see a difference of almost £30 it makes you wonder are they really worth it?

How often do you repalce your mouse? Probably only if you get a brand new pre-built computer. And if you already have a high quality mouse, why replace it? Whats an extra 30 bucks over the span of 10 years you might use your mouse for?

G9X. Love it for FPS. The on the fly DPI changing is fantastic when sniping. Of course most gaming mice have that feature, just making an observation.

It has a set of blue LED headlights so at night i can turn it on and see the keyboard! :D

Nope, and it didn't stop me chain-headshotting snipers on the other side who are using 100-200 dollars gaming mice.

Above, and extremely precise, depending on the mouse. I have a 3500 DPI Razer Deathadder, made a BIG difference. I even got a gaming mouse PAD, even even did more for me.

Razer are brand names like Nike and Adidas but i have mouse 2500dpi bought the brand is ihome for 24 bucks(lol) and it does the job perfectly. Detects very small movements and almost no difference in comparison to the razer(i think it was called maba) Either way that mouse was $140 last time i checked and i had the pleasure to test its only looks i tell ya and presentation. If you dont plan on keeping the nice box or the manual i suggest you go for a cheaper solution because in the end you are not going to notice 2x the performance as i though because of the 5000dpi variable. I didnt even notice a 10% increase in my performance.

I use the Logitech G9. I remember thinking "I dont need one, this Dell optical works fine!" Then I bought one and it is a huge difference. It's one of those, you don't know until you have one

I've seen them in stores too, although I suppose the harsh light there might make them seem brighter than they are. I just liked the bombed out shrapnel look of my G5 (though it lacks a forward thumb button).

What makes you choose a particular mouse? Is mainly the reviews, the brand reputation the price or something else?

All of the above? Or try them out yourselves and see which one feels the best.

Yep, Razer Copperhead $60 and definately worth the cash. May get a new one at some point with higher DPI though i'm really used to my Copperhead and the shape is very unique.

Lachesis, although I liked the cbyer snipa stinger, I had 3 and they all broke from the left click stopped working. Lachesis is a great mouse though, unlike any other mouse including the cyber, my hand never sprains during gameplay. Though this mouse isn't super comfy just web browsing. It's a great blend, and I respect that.
