So, do you use a mouse mat? I'm new to PC gaming and wondered if I should get a mouse mat. I have a g5 and the plasticy feet on the bottom seem to be rubbing onto my desk and I waswondering whether I should get a mosue mat or not. Also what is the difference between mouse mats? Thanks

Not really, they're not that necessary on laser mice, i would get one but i don't really have the desk space or money to spare. You really should get teflon feet if you haven't got them though, they're definitely worth it.

they're not "necessary", but they do make your mouse glide much smoother. It feels nice! I use a Razer destructor with my G5. Couldn't be happier.

Where I live I can get it for £27. Is it worth that? I probably will buy it, but are there any cheaper, decent mousemats? Thanks

Roccat Sense is said to be very good and at a nice price too, if you like hard mats though you have to take a look at what Steelseries has to offer

Is one for being fast and one for precision? :D

You can just get a nice mousepad for only like $3. I don't see a reason for paying $40 for a mousepad. O_O

I use a mouse pad, but mainly to help keep my mouse skates from wearing out.

I got mine from Artsnow.com. The make custom mouse pad, and I have a coupon code (MSPD99) to get unlimited pads for $2.99 each w/ free shipping. Now they are not the best mouse pads in the world, but better than what walmart has for like $5.

I got a pic of my PC on mine, got my GF one with a pic of us in a hot air balloon. For the price I like them.

I use a Nova winner 3 mouse mat. I don't want to erode my desk, however I had to get this one because all other mouse mats assume you have a 40ft desk or something.

Well worth it. Tracking is better and like you said it helps your feet from wearing out. I love my Steelseries QCK+ since it's very comfortable but my Ratpadz XT provides much better tracking and glide although it's just not as comfortable.

I own a wireless mouse which rolls over a wired mouse pad so that it does not require charging.

I've searched everywhere and can't find a place that sells the ratpads xt in the UK. I can find the steelseries though.

A Mouse Mat is really cheap and as noname said, it makes your mouse move around much smoother. Yes I have a mouse mat, and I greatly recommend it.

Hard pads are hard, soft pads are soft, simple as that. I think SS has a compromise which is plastic top with foam base. BTW from most gamers i've seen on here i'ld say that your better off saving the cash until you have proper headphones as those improve your game much more than a mouse mat (that's if you've got a great mouse already)

You should look for one you like. That's all there is to it, there isn't such thing as a bad mouse mat just bad for you. The only things you can really look at stat wise is how hard or soft they are ie fabric = soft, plastic + foam = medium, steel or glass = hard. It all depends on personal preference though.

So hard mousemats are good for accuracy and soft are good for speed?

A hard mouse pad is better for speed and accuracy but soft mousepads are very comfortable. It's all in what you perfer, but I wouldn't spend too much on a mouse pad, tbh. Too bad that you can't find a Ratpadz XT in the UK it's the best hard mousepad for the price imo. I would make a post at the [H] and see what they can do.

I agree..it really comes down a one's personal preference.....I use a hard surface mouse pad... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817114131

This one took me a while to get use to because it has a plastic LED boarder that bothered my wrist, but I have since gotten use to it. My wrist may be permanently damaged for life...:P..... but this mouse pad works great and looks awesome at night with the lights out and the adjustable LED boarder turned on...:) ....The other gaming pad I like very much is the Razor eXactMat w/ wrist-rest...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826999019...will most likely be my next pad after my wrist gives out...LOL

I use a Steel series black mat, very smooth for my mouse, had to get it because of this rougher wood my new desk was made from.
