Do you want GTA: IV on PC?

There have been numerous topics asking if it will come now it is time to ask: Do we really want it?

I didn't like San Andreas as many of you know, so I am skeptical as to what this title will bring in terms of improvements to the series. I am certainly not writing it off and I see potential in this series.

I for one would like to wait and see what others say about GTA: IV before demanding from the bell towers that it come to PC.

I've been thinking of getting a 360 to play this and a couple of other games exclusive to the system tbh. I'd rather just be able to grab it for the PC though, yeah.

Every review of GTA 4 praises it as the greatest game ever made, with tons of improvements over the older ones.

So no, I don't want it on PC. I don't want to experience the pinnacle of gaming.

The only thing GTA represents is a load of fun. Lowest common denominator? Thats who Deus Ex 2 and Oblivion was made for. GTA did not have much to simplify to begin with.

Yes, I want it to come to PC. I think it will...all the others have. Rockstar doesnt forget the PC, they just ignore us for a couple months lol.

i liked san andreas on pc...but i dont really like the keyboard controls

this game is gonna be awesome and i want it to come out on pc...just have to plug in the old 360 controller...i also want it for the mods

Big L - while you didn;'t like SA, consider that GTA4 has a smaller, more coherent city, it appears to have a better structured story (more in line with GTA3 and Vice City) and the combat has been completely overhauled. GTA4 also looks pretty damn awesome.

Weren't those your biggest issues with SA?

Remember, SA is the most recent GTA game, but it's by no means the best and it's hardly representative of the GTA series as a whole.

Yes that is exactly what I wanted and why I chose not to write off GTA: IV.

i was unimpressed with Vice City and its the only GTA game i've played

looking at GTAIV thought, i like the setting better, the combat looks much better, and as a whole, it looks much better. all-in-all, i won't mind if it comes to PC as long as its a decent port, if only so i can give it a shot, since i lack a current-gen console

Well, wouldn't you act the same way if Max Payne 3 or Thief 4 came out?

People are used to getting a great gaming-experience with every GTA-game that comes out. We expect quality, because that's what we've gotten in the past. Almost every single time (don't know about the first one...).

You, my friend, are one of the few that does not like this franchise. Therefore you have low expectations.

What we find to be fun is a subjective thing. I find nothing fun about a game with shallow, repetative gameplay, a sub-par control scheme, blocky graphics with a limited number of skins (GTA III always reminded me of those olf Flintstones cartoons where the background was just an endless loop), and a purile sense of humour aimed squarely at socially maladjusted 14 year olds.

I agree with your first sentence, but that's about it.

On the gameplay being repetitive - well, there are degrees of course, but all games are pretty repetitive. How repetitive the game is is tempered by how fun the player finds it. GTA is a sandbox game and you have to play with the toys you're given.

On the blocky graphics, it's true that the GTA games have always been behind the curve visually (right back as far as GTA1), but you have to look at how large and how busy the environments are as well as how good looking the games are. It's no corridor shooter - I think the size of the world and the worldly feel far more than offset the lacking visuals. And besides, GTA4 is looking very pretty if you ask me. It's no Crysis, but then again, Crysis isn't set in a large city with traffic and dozens of pedestrians everywhere.

On the limited number of skins there are, it's pretty hard to push on this point in my opinion. All games have very limited skin sets (I can't think of a single game that doesn't make heavy use of ctrl v and ctrl c when we're talking about character models) and it's unreasonable to judge a game by anything other than the acceptable standards by which you judge all games. We may want to expect more from a game with a larger scope than a game set in a corridor, but that's pretty hypocritical.

As for the humour, meh. It's hit and miss - but hit and miss is better than the general computer game standard which is miss and miss and miss and miss and miss and miss and miss and miss.

You should really be more careful with your statements. One thing is to dislike a game. Another thing is to make generalized (sorry for this... stupid) assumptions and insult it's userbase twice in one thread. Not nice at all.
