I mean ...the hell....the games themselves are far behind the graphics cards.....the multgraphics cards is also good....I mean really...is it necessary for a it to be a big deal when they make every single upgrade?DRUNK_CANADIANIf you crank up the resolution, AA, AF, etc., you can bog down even a GeForce 8800 GTS *. I know from personal experience... (e.g. FEAR, DOOM 3) I enjoy gaming at 45+ FPS - some people are happy with 20+ FPS. To each his or her own.

Every technical step forward in the industry is inevitable. Whether or not the games eventually catch up with the cards, or the cards eventually catch up with the games is irrelevant. What matters to me is that sometime in the next 6 to 42 months, I'll probably buy a new video card. This baby, and the technology it introduces, will relate to my purchase. So I hope it's cool.

this one is particularly important because it supports the new DX10 that no-one will be using for the next 6 months or so. i was watching a show one time and the guy on there said the best thing about developers coming out with new products is that it makes the older ones cheaper! i don't intend to upgrade to a new dx10 computer til probably this fall, when everything is smoothed out and working properly and you actually get some benefits from it.
Where i live, the 8800s cost an arm and a leg. That doesn't stop some crazy people from shelling out their life savings for it, but being a more rational person myself i'll stick by my rule of "if it ain't broke dont fix it". My x800 still going strong, will probably only upgrade once a) crysis comes out b) my x800 blows.
I also suggest waiting for the R600 to drive 8 series prices down.
My FX5700 broke, and over here and NewZealand it costs about.. 600 USD which costs a lot more than a GTX in USA, which sucks but oh well.Where i live, the 8800s cost an arm and a leg. Where i live a 8800gtx could buy you 3 radeon1950xts. That's how overpriced new technology is. And yes, its about 600usd basically.Where i live, the 8800s cost an arm and a leg.
