I mean ...the hell....the games themselves are far behind the graphics cards.....the multgraphics cards is also good....I mean really...is it necessary for a it to be a big deal when they make every single upgrade?

heh i was thinking the same thing when i seen yet another 'feature spread' on the latest (read this fortnights) Nvidia card. good lord they are all way overpriced and since the average reader of this sight has to be about 12 years old anyhow why bother doing a spread on something thats out of date in a month and the average reader cant possable afford anyhow?

its good that there is a few DirectX 10 cards out, but i am waiting until i really need one because by that time i can get a good one for 250 bucks. the card i have now has lasted me 2 years and is still going strong (ati radeon x800 xl) except that it doesn't have SM3.0 so i can't play rainbow six vegas.

Yes, I will probably end up buying this. It is cheaper but it has only 320 mb but I really don't mind that.

If you crank up the resolution, AA, AF, etc., you can bog down even a GeForce 8800 GTS *. I know from personal experience... (e.g. FEAR, DOOM 3) I enjoy gaming at 45+ FPS - some people are happy with 20+ FPS. To each his or her own.

Hell yeah I care.  I care so much, I went out and bought a 8800 GTX.  Quake 4 looks the nuts with Ultra Quality.  So didn't FEAR.  Smooth as butter at 1280x1024, AA, etc ratched up.

I care a little. Every technical step forward in the industry is inevitable. Whether or not the games eventually catch up with the cards, or the cards eventually catch up with the games is irrelevant. What matters to me is that sometime in the next 6 to 42 months, I'll probably buy a new video card. This baby, and the technology it introduces, will relate to my purchase. So I hope it's cool.

this one is particularly important because it supports the new DX10 that no-one will be using for the next 6 months or so.  i was watching a show one time and the guy on there said the best thing about developers coming out with new products is that it makes the older ones cheaper!  i don't intend to upgrade to a new dx10 computer til probably this fall, when everything is smoothed out and working properly and you actually get some benefits from it.

Well, actually it's nice because once DX10 becomes the standard, that card will be there, it'll be cheap, and it'll be able to kick ass right off the bat.

Crysis, Alan Wake, Hellgate: London, Unreal Tournament 3. Suddenly people will care and be behind.

If the 8800 supported 4 pipes i might care. The first decent card that can run on a 4 pipe bandwidth gets my support. Also, when a game I want requires dx10, and not just supports some optional features, I will get a dx10 card.

Where i live, the 8800s cost an arm and a leg. That doesn't stop some crazy people from shelling out their life savings for it, but being a more rational person myself i'll stick by my rule of "if it ain't broke dont fix it". My x800 still going strong, will probably only upgrade once a) crysis comes out b) my x800 blows.

I also suggest waiting for the R600 to drive 8 series prices down.

My FX5700 broke, and over here and NewZealand it costs about.. 600 USD which costs a lot more than a GTX in USA, which sucks but oh well.

Where i live a 8800gtx could buy you 3 radeon1950xts. That's how overpriced new technology is. And yes, its about 600usd basically.
