Since it's been a few months since release, I'm curious to see what the general opinion is.
So GS, vote. You can make a difference.

I'm starting to get pissed off at the multi-player. Still having the issues and also the servers with all these damn rules, "Crouch only! Snipers only! No Last Stand!", I've really lost faith in the CoD series. The only thing I'll play from now would be the zombie co-op, which is the only plus side of the game.

oh the humanity.. i once played on a CSS server where HS and shooting someone in the back were BANNABLE offenses
I did like the features and the campaign and multiplayer were solid, but I went back to Bad Company 2 afterwards, I just can't get into COD multiplayer as much as other games like Battlefield, Halo, Unreal Tournament, Killzone, etc. for some reason.
Thank god I got it for 40 bucks used.
I've defended COD for a long while but Black Ops was an outright rip off - a very conventional and routine campaign, coupled with laggy and bug riddled multiplayer. MW2 was leagues better. biggest_loser
Modern Warfare2 campaign wasnt routine campaign to?
Personally I dont think there has been a truely good COD campaign since the 2nd one.

At least there were some genuinely exciting set pieces, excellent presentation and well designed missions. I really thought Black Ops was going through the motions. I guess because the series was a year older again. On a personal note, I found some of the violence to be actually quite offensive. A quick time event to choke a bloke or punch someone in the face when they have glass in their mouth? I know that might seem odd after No Russian but at least that tied to the narrative nicely. COD4's campaign, i think, is my favourite.[QUOTE="kozzy1234"][QUOTE="biggest_loser"]I've defended COD for a long while but Black Ops was an outright rip off - a very conventional and routine campaign, coupled with laggy and bug riddled multiplayer. COD4's campaign, i think, is my favourite.fair enough, I felt the same way about all the cod campaigns after COD1 and COD2, going through the motions, just same thing over and over, after i finished them it felt like the previous cod campaign, decent but nothing good or amazing. The music and presentation is really the only standouts for me from COD3-Black Ops. COD1 and COD2 though? Loved those campaigns for some reason :P
Seemed like there was one mission in each of the last handfull of cod games that I enjoyed (COD4 I really liked mission at the big wheel), but as a whole just really sloppy campaigns that didnt seem consistent to me, kind of felt forced to beat them and like all there energy was being put into the multiplayer.
I occasionally stutter when I fire my guns, it's incredibly annoying. MW2 ran better on 3.4GHz C2D + 8800GT than Blops on 3.6GHz C2Q + 850MHz 460. And, Blops looks no better. What I hated the most is how it performs, 20-100FPS randomly on my setup along with crashing and freezing. Even previous CODs ran better maxed out above 60FPS, what gives with this game?
A Athlon II X4 645 and 1GB GTX 460 can clearly handle this game.

Best COD ever.

i think u have that confused with united offensive...
I think he is confused with any Call of Duty game that is strictly NOT Call of Duty: Blackened Operatives in the land of Latency![QUOTE="lpjazzman220"][QUOTE="Baranga"]

I even consider buying the DLC! It would surely be a much better purchase than Crysis 2...
That site confuses me, is it real? O.o I mean, IGN already have Direct2Drive. It seems weird for them to have a reskinned version of it with different sales.I played MP Beta it was ok but tempted give it run since it on sale for $7.50 @ IGN PC Store

Better stick with MW2 or previous COD games if you're only intereseted in it's Multiplayer. & for the Singleplayer It was just Ok. Still just a point & shoot game with dumb scripted A.I. with terrific aim.. but this time Treyarch put back those annoying respawning enemies. Hate it! Funny how difficult the game became in the Veteran difficulty. I only loved the great scenarios that it's Singleplayer had to offer.. for example that visually awesome "missile launch" level (don't remember it's name) I don't hate it, I don't like it either.
Must stop caring so much abt this COD series.

COD4's campaign, i think, is my favourite.completely agree about the campaign. it was the most uninspired, formulaic cod campaign by some distance and im including cod 3 in that comparison.
it felt like an afterthought and a rushed one at that. you usually expect a fair amount of polish and some spectacular set pieces but black ops had neither. it just felt like it was designed for kids what with all the handholding, stop/start levels and quick time events.
when i saw it been voted by the public as best game at the UK bafta game awards, it genuinely saddened me

Black Ops didn't have spectacular set pieces?! How much have you played? It lacked polish, but every 5 minutes it threw a new scenario or toy at you.

exactly it was all over the place!
it was also a horribly scripted mess.. felt like i was playing an action movie continuously bombarded by pust x to continue.. ugh

all of it. what would you class as spectacular in it?

The prison escape, the rooftops level and the base jumping level (where you play as Ed Harris!) are my favourites.
But all levels have spectacular moments. Like when you take a KPA as human shield, or the Abyss style diving... I remember every level and setpiece of Blops, something I can't say about the other games in the series. And frankly, I didn't see most of them coming. It lacked the shock and awe of COD4, but instead it provided a constant stream of "awesome". Gone are the boring go-from-A-to-B-and-that's-about-it levels of the past.
I also enjoyed the presentation, apart from some very awkward cutscenes and exposition at the beggining and end. And the story, well, I always liked Cold War conspiracy fiction and it had some cool characters. Certainly better than the MW games!
Haven't even played it yet or given a look-in. Not because I think its bad I don't know. I've just no longer got the urgency, same with MoH felt like I've finally had enough of those for the time being.

interesting, my experience is almost the opposite of yours lol. theres not an awful lot i found memorable about it tbh. it just felt like a fps by numbers; over simplified (the top down level was just ridiculous), contrived and far too stop start (just let me play ffs!) which killed any immersion for me.
and there were many flaws in the staged events if you didnt play along with exactly how they planned it too. a bit towards the end were you have to sneak behind a guy to kill him stands out. i waited a little longer then i was obviously supposed to because the guy i was supposed to kill saw me (even though a building seperated us) and opened fire. my mate who was the look out on the corner of the building shouted "youve been discovered!" but stayed put still crouched looking round the corner whilst the guy with the xray vision and his mates all opened fire and attacked me.
anything remotely decent in the game just became overshadowed by things like that tbh
I enjoy it myself. Game runs fine, no bugs, usually have a lot of fun.
Maybe I should see a doctor or something. :|

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who enjoyed BO's single player (apart from the very beginning and the very end). Please Log In to post.
