From a photorealistic standpoint, does anyone think Crysis looks more photoreal when seen through Medium shader settings rather than High? (assuming everything else is set to high).

Personally i think that even with the bloom, volumetric, and fog/haze effects that high shader settings adds, it doesn't quite place them at the exact right levels to make them look like something out of a photo. On the other hand Medium shader settings, especially when running the game at 1280 x 960 or higher resolution, captures the crispness and solidness of a photo.

I don't agree.

medium shaders

high shaders

The shaders setting affects more aspects of the graphics than any other setting, and I think it makes the game look significantly more photorealistic on high.

Here are the links to the screenshots in full resolution.

THe colors on medium come through more robust and vibrant. Blues are bluer, greens are greener, etc.

But Crysis is a game that tries to make things look real, and air is quite dirty...so at higher settings you get more realism although the colors seem less intense.

I kinda like it at high to be honest. Plus screenshots dont really do it justice.

Dunno. Maybe it's browser-related. I see them just fine.

Can anybody else see / not see them?

It's because you hyperlinked. To view the pics, copy/paste it into the address bar.

I get a hotlinking blocked error. You don't exactly need picture evidence to prove that high looks better than medium though, I think!!

Still doesn't work for me in Firefox, but it worked in IE7.

And High looks much better.

What are you talking about? I didn't hyperlink anything to post the picture on the GS forum page (I merely put the address of the picture into the image URL box of image insert), and hyperlinking a picture link instead of putting the link normally as text so that people have to copy and paste it should make no difference whether or not it shows a picture for them.

And if it had anything to do with hyperlinks, I wouldn't be able to see them either, but I can.

Ahhhh-HAAAAA!! You see?! Do you see?! That is why I don't use Firefox!!

:P

Anyway, here's the page the pictures can be seen on. Hopefully there's no errors with just hyperlinking the webpage.

high looks more photo realistic as it has realistic graphics where everything isnt all shiny and colorful.

medium has more vibrant colors and looks more like a game
