yah the only downside is when you take them off you'll prolly see ghosts flying around your room for weeks, and when you hit middle age you'll have to wear them 3dglasses outside just to feel normal
really its no surprize you would want us to live more like you, gordi 8)

Stereoscopic 3D gaming has been around for years now, and you can do it for about $20 with the Geforce 6XXX series. But nVidia released the $200 3DVision glasses recently, and I haven't seen anyone on GS talking about them. I know that it's expensive in the end, since you need a 120Hz display now. But with a 120Hz display, a DX10 video card, and the 3DVision glasses, you can be completely immersed in a truly 3D gaming experience. I just bought a 120Hz highdef LCD projector, so the enemies will be running around my living room in life size!! I can't wait to get new video cards and a set of the glasses, because 3DVision is no gimmick....-GeordiLaForge-
It's not for me but that sounds impressive and will be fun.
It looks good, but I don't buy things untill they've been out for a while and have some solid reviews out and they fall in price. :P
Maybe an upgrade in the future for me.
I wonder if future consoles pick up on this?
No, from wht i've heard it just puts the HUD on a seprate plane from the action, it's not worth it IMO not even worht putting on the glassesmarkop2003You heard wrong. It's completely 3D, like IMAX....

You get a different image going to each eye, each from the correct angle to make the image truly 3D. Maybe the reviewer had bad eyes? Who knows... I know that it works though..

Lol, you got you leave the Dr. Brahms out of your mind.lol, I still keep a "dirty" version of her holodeck program :D .... good thing she didn't see that one!the market for 120hz monitors is small right now, i heard theres only two right now? h3lluvagoodThere are tons of 120Hz LCD tv's. You can get a really good 52" one for less than $1500. I'm not sure about monitors though....

Why not try it with some anaglyph glasses first to see if you like it. The same drivers you download from nvidia for the shutter glasses work with the red blue anaglyph glasses you can get for next to nothing.
I often game using just these. How well the 3d effect works depends on the game. COD4 is awesome. How much it pops out of the screen depends on the seperation of the 2 images being displayed but also on the convergence. Convergence is where both eyes point slightly inwards to focus on something close up. The higher you set the seperation the more you will have to set the convergence to a higher setting or it will be like looking at a 3d model set very close up and in order to look at anything that is relatively close you have to almost make yourself go cross eyed.
...the point is that 3D does work and when done right it can be very impressive. However, you must bare in mind:
It is still very impressive, especially when you put your hand up and it looks like you can reach into your monitor or actually grab the characters lol. I've never seen a setup with a huge projector, it could be awesome. I agree that this is an area that is beginning to see improvement and I'm glad to hear more people are interested. Just stay clear of the eDimensional shutter glasses...aweful

Oh, I think I'll totally be going for the Samsung Syncmaster 2233RZ and some of dem dare fancy glasses. Sounds like fun, and fun goes at premium prices in dees parts.
Wow, I'm getting those glasses. Isn't this nvidia only atm? Makes me want to buy nvidia when I get a new build.
yeah your totally rite, more peple should be talking about it cause i think this is the future of gaming... i found a cool video review here, also talking about the amout of 3D you can apply

But what i want to know does it have to be 120mhz or could can it be 120+ Mhz (200)?

The max refresh rate of my new projector is actually 130Hz, but it is capable of displaying any refresh rate between 50 and 130Hz... If your monitors max refresh rate is 200Hz, it will have the option to display at 120Hz, as this is one of the most widely accepted standards. It's like how most monitors accept an XGA resolution signal. Those have been out for years, and you can use almost any nVidia card. But they just doubled the MSRP of the 3DVisor Z800 without upgrading it!! It is still SVGA res, but they want $1500 for them suddenly...What they need to do is create some glasses with little monitors in them and a tracking device so you see through them it looks cool and when you move youre head around it tracks the movement of youre head so you look around in game as if it was real!!

That's good to know. I will put a warning sign on the entrance of my holodeck :DAlso I heard that you can get motion sickness from these glasses. :S

I'm not sure if it's true, but someone posted that the drivers offer an option to use regular old blue/red 3d glasses! That would be awesome, and much cheaper :DI would love to get one but 200 for glasses + like 400 for the monitor

but then your game would look red and blue :( anyways im going to watch startrek enterprise at 4pm, they don't have a holodeck but there's something about those klingon'smachiavell8x8There may be a some hints of red and blue, but the screen images should counteract most of the discoloring. As for Enterprise, simplicity is good too :)
but then your game would look red and blue :( anyways im going to watch startrek enterprise at 4pm, they don't have a holodeck but there's something about those klingon'smachiavell8x8Surprisingly, the red/blue anaglyph glasses still allow colour through. Its not perfect but you still get sense of yellow, blue, red, green etc. The blue lens still allows other colours through but gives a blue tint, red lens allows cllours through but with a red tint. When your eyes merge the images, you can still see the colours but everything is dimmed.
However its not for everyone as some people cannot stand the colours being slightly skewed. It simply offers an alternative to everyone not willing to upgrade their monitor and buy shutter or polarised glasses.
First up are the Nvidia drivers. These are vista only! You will need to update your current drivers to the latest stereo compatible drivers. Don't worry though as you do not have to have stereo (3D effect) enabled. If you have a pair of red/blue glasses laying around then try it out! www.nvidia.com/object/3d_stereo.html#driver
Next up are alternative to the Nvidia ones. These are XP compatible and also a little more versatile. iz3d specialise in doing polarised monitors where you buy the much cheaper polarized glasses (NVidia's are shutter glasses). However, like the Nvidia drivers, these enable an anaglyph mode. http://www.iz3d.com/t-dcdriver.aspx
I found the link to nVidia's stereo video drivers for XP. These will work with XP and 6XXX / 7XXX series cards. I downloaded older forceware drivers, nVidia's XP stereo drivers, and coolbits 2. I'm going to try them out on a different partition when I get some anaglyph glasses. I'll report back with my results...First up are the Nvidia drivers. These are vista only!
