Does anyone find gaming on the PC to be "freakier" than on consoles?

I've been playing Bioshock and explorering Vault 106 in Fallout 3 and I'm getting the chills! Is it that I'm holed up next to my monitor or am I crazy?

The monitor and sounds devices are usually much closer when playing PC games, this immersing you more.

It's certainly possible :D

I find gaming on the PC and my 24" monitor more immersive than on consoles and my 58" HDTV. Most likely has to do with the closer distance to the screen and typically better graphics on the PC in addition to the higher res available. It allows for much better attention/appreciation to finer details which contributes heavily to the immersion, for me.

GS recently had a nice feature comparing a few multiplatform games such as Fallout 3, Dead Space, and GTA IV and definitively found the PC versions to be the best-looking. It's nice to see PC gaming get its due from time to time when it seems like people are forgetting about it.

Its funny how they did this, the PC was obviously better, yet they award best technical graphics to a PS3 game...

Doom 3 on the PC freaked me out while on the xbox I just wasn't as scared. Also I think it helps that we normally sit 1 to 2 feet from our monitors instead of yards away from a tv.

I use the exact same setup for my consoles, & my PC. I've never noticed a difference. I have noticed that random encounters scare me more, than scripted encounters which is probably why I didn't like FEAR and dead space.

I agree with everyone that has said it's most likely because you're sitting at MOST a couple feet from your monitor.

As well as if you're using surround sound/good headphones with a good sound card like I am, then you hear just about everything in the game. It allows you to become even more immersed in your game. Which obviously is a good thing in certain games (Footsteps in CS:S), but makes you wish you had no sound at all in others (Which are the scarier games for me, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. :P ).

Consoles are good for 2D games - driving games or button smashing such as tekken.

However the speed and accuracy of mouse + keyboard makes console gaming far inferior

It could be caused by closer distance to your monitor and speaker

Besides that, with proper graphic card u can tune the graphics settings higher than consoles are; which can create more exciting and great gaming experience

I actually thought about it too some time ago, and definatly PC gaming has much more atmosphere in it, whether it's the better graphs, less distance, etc. It's just better!
