I had an Alienware, cost about $2600 and then it broke. Had a Intel 2.6Ghz CPU, nVidia GForce 5200Go GPU, 256MB RAM, cant remember the exact specs. This was before I knew how to build computers and now I relize how bad an idea it was to get in the first place and I dont think there is such a thing as a "good" gaming laptop.
The Asus G1p is a GREAT gaming laptop at the 15.4 inch screen size. It currently is the best bang for the buck in the 15.4 inch notebooks. I know from experience because I own one and it is GRRREAT! But the 17' ones do have SLI setups and beefy 7950 graphics cards but they cost around 4K while the G1 is just under 2K.
Mine, which I bought almost a year ago that still maxes out almost any game at 1920x1200. It cost me $2500 then, but you can get it for $2299 now. It is also fully upgradeable, even the video card. It also comes with an optional Blu-ray drive. I've never had any hardware problems. Quite simply, the XPS M1710 is the most elite gaming laptop, well unless you want to spend 7000+ on the Alienware Aurora mALX with TWO! 7950GTX 512MB. That's just overkill.

If that was out a year ago, I would have bought it.Â
