Dota is an interesting modification map on Warcraft III The Frozen Throne. I'm just curious if there are many DOTA players hanging out here on Gamespot. Do you play DOTA? Why?

I play HoN which is an updated version of DoTA. And why? Cause it is epic fun when playing with a few guys. Good challenge and you need teamwork.Dota is an interesting modification map on Warcraft III The Frozen Throne. I'm just curious if there are many DOTA players hanging out here on Gamespot. I played many competitive Dota match. In fact we have a tournament on 5 April in my country. Why i play it?I play Dota because i find it fun?Isn't it why we play games?
I used to play, great game. Too bad the community is is awful. I tried Heroes of Newerth and really liked it, but at times i missed the warcraft 3 engine. coolmonkeykidI know what u mean. When i fist started playing Dota i was pretty bad like every other new player but for some reason the so called ''PRO'' player never understand that(Most of them are actually very bad but like to rant STUPID ),Its annoying. But now i have a good team of my own.

Yeah, I understand. Public players usually mocks newbies who plays badly. I also felt it. At the first time I played and they mocked me, I felt so bad and didn't wanna play it online again. But a few days after I got my morale back and gained myself an ability to withstand their mockery (and counter it). Haha
I used to play DOTA but I have fully switched over to HON. It is a much better game in every aspect other than the hero pool which HON has 60 while DOTA has 93 I believe. It's not a big deal though since HON gets new heroes more often then DOTA does and will eventually surpass DOTA in hero count. Best thing is that most HON heroes are viable in competitive play.
HON is in open beta at the moment so anyone can make an account and try the game.
I play because it's just good fun. I was bad, then I got better. People who do things like buy no gear or just die early game are annoying. You miss an ult, ult too late, forget to call mid but do normally, or just make a bad decision its alright. You keep going, you learn your lesson, you have fun.
I tried a few "Noob friendly" matche a long time ago. The players didn't give anyone a hard time. But then again, I don't thing anybody knew what they were doing. I quit the match after 10 minutes because I didn't learn a single thing about how to play the stupid game.
Yes I do. Over six years now and still going...
Although now I've moved to OMG DotA entirely, which is a mode that allows any heroes to have any abilities basically, it's much more fun.
It is a fact that the community is infested with bottom-feeding ignorant douche bags such as myself, but there are some good guys there too, like, two.
I sit in my arm chair, sipping my Southern Comfort and reminisce all the time I have wasted on this game.
never played Dota
I play HoN and yeah the community in these games are terrible.
Just today we had someone drop immediately didn't come back. We tried to remake and one person on their team wouldn't do it. So I found him, murdered him and then they remade. XD
Now that I think about the topic more deeply, I think I understand it. "Does anyone here play DOTA? Why?" My thoughts exactly: WHY?! It sums the game up perfectly, WHY do you do this to yourself. I mean, usually when people ask about a game, they ask "Do you play it?", they don't ask "Why do you play it?" So the TC is perhaps a psychiatric or something and is trying to figure out WHY would someone want to play this particular game.
I have a drawer full of broken mouses, I have a Banlist longer than the morning paper, my fingers move faster than Nerubian Weaver in Shukuchi and my mind is as broken as Tinker's Rearm.
Yeah, I need sleep.
I never played DotA, but I did play HoN from its very early alpha testing stages to the end of the open beta the day it went retail. Why? It was very good game to play with no price tag attached. But I never thought it to be worth $30; the in-game community is horrible and very elitist (if you can't keep a KDR of 1, you are regarded as bad, no matter how well you play support), the forums are just as bad (if someone disagrees with you, you are trolled and flamed), the glitches (for $30) are unreal (I mean, if you are stunned for any duration, Swiftblade can get out of it by ult'ing) and the heroes that are not ports are very imbalanced (be it over or underpowered). Hopefully IceFrog's project with Valve will be better than it.
Back on-topic though, I do plan on playing DotA as my friend has a copy of WC3 and he plays it constantly, so I intend on getting some playtime at his house soon :)
