do you do networking, lots of printer setups, run tons of applications for websdesign? I do use my OS for more then gaming and M$ word and Photoshop. I have trouble uploading stuff to servers too. Go read reviews of Vista, they all say it has a bigger learning curve. IF theyre werent so many problems with it, then DELL and Micro Velocity wouldnt have put XP back on the shelves. IF it didnt have so many problems, then M$ wouldnt have extended the life of XP, cause VIsta sales are down and the complaints.
Im talking about the media DRM, whichhas been quoted on the net as a suicide note. Also the fact that if you want to replace your motherboard with an OEM CD, you have to replace the CD too, which costs as much as a new motherboard. I know XP was similar, but it wasnt at the same time.
Im happy you guys have no problems with VIsta, but in reality, you guys are the minority, where there are more people with problems then people without problems

I use Vista with quadruple monitor setup using file sharing/remote desktop and most of Vista's network features. I ran about 40 games on it and they all worked fine (some after minor tweaking). I am a software engineer and use Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Maya, 3D Studio Max, Flash, MySQL, Oracle Form, Adobe Premiere and others with zero problems.
I have 2 printers set on my main gaming PC, they work fine via network or not. The search function is an integral part of vista, making everything accessible in an instant. If your parents/you can't find a specific function in the control panel, just type the name of it in the search bar for instant findage.
Vista eats up ram mostly for pre caching, this way applications run faster at the start - also making the OS much more responsive. For once the interface is not bottle necked with cpu threads, it is completely dependant on the GPU. No memory leak, better use of multi core systems, etc...
BTW if you disable some of the new vista services that you may find useless, vista only uses about +100mb of ram compared to XP to run if you don't include pre caching. Tweak it a bit and while you're doing so you might get used to it and help your parents. Just saying.
