Does Far Cry's terrain change from flat with trees like Crysis' does?

What I mean is will I be able to snipe from a hill up above, like right before that facility where you get out of a building and take on a bunch of tanks?

There was a little house which had a rifle that I attached a scope to, and it was awesome sniping guys from hundreds of feet away, up above.

Far Cry had much more sniping from what I remember and more opportunities to snipe from distances. Ammo was probably the main problem with the sniper rifle.

There are many places in the levels like fort, boat where you could position yourself above the enemy and snipe them away. Hell rocket launcher sniping was almost as fun.

Thanks, I'll have to go try it out.

Far Cry was the Crysis of graphics back then, does it still hold up compared to games today?

Does Far Cry have a lot of freedom? I've heard so many things about it, watched it, seen others play it, but never actually played it myself. And is most of the game fighting aliens (I know the story anyways) and having things pop out at you a la Doom 3 or fighting real soldiers?

Holds up fine in graphics, yeah. It still looks pretty good on highest settings, and there's aftermarket HDR ini mods you can make. There's a lot more vertical combat, yeah. There are unfortunately a lot more aliens after about halfway into the game, but some of the levels against human mercenaries are awesome (Boat's my favorite IIRC - you have to clear out something like three big islands and it's up to you how)

Far Cry is still an excellent game and I honestly love it more than Crysis. Far Cry is a classic. It's still very pretty, even if the polygonal models are not the best anymore. It's just an incredibly fun ride throughout. Crysis really is Far Cry with added features like better graphics, destructible objects, etc. It began with Far Cry.

Nope. I agreed it began with Far Cry. BUT.

Crysis didn't have enemies shooting at you from kilometres away, even after you hid in a big thick bush.

Crysis didn't have baddies with bad, bad, BAD one liners.

Crysis didn't have Valerie.

Crysis have more ways to experiment with the environment.

Crysis have the nanosuit which adds up a lot more variety when dealing with the enemies.

Crysis have Koreans. Nuff said.

Crysis have a better story(though this is not saying much).

Crysis have weapons customizations. (You can put a scope on a shotgun!)

Have you even played the game?

I would say Crysis is FarCry 2.0, not too much is different between the two, besides the Nanosuit. Crysis is wicked awesome, and people are only hurting themselves by not playing it. Overall Far Cry is much more challenging.

As for Sniping, Crysis is pretty much easy mode you can stealth and the enemy just stands there acting like a retard even though you killed his buddy.

Far Cry is MUCH less linear than Crysis. Far Cry has great sniping too. Crysis pretty much just built on Far Cry. Far Cry still holds up today.
