, it really needes more cpu load which lags the game badlyDibs-47Ah would explain why I don't have any issues .... go Sandy Bridge lol.
If you have multiple HDD's with decent speeds try DXTory, its a lot better than Fraps, because of the distributed HDD writing and records both OpenGL and DirectX games. Theres a trial version on their website and here is a tutorial on how to set up and use the program.
At 1080p yes, its more of a hard drive limation, at 1440 by 900, i could record at 60 fps without an issue. My framrate can drop from 100 to 20-60
fraps sucks for recording game videos...fraps is a framerate killer, sometimes you'll experience 45 fps dropslightleggy
FRAPS barely has an impact in framerrate if you just take screenshots or use the fps score. What affects greatly your framerrate is recording video. In order to reduce such impact the best option is to run the recording at half size, which means 1/2 wide and 1/2 = 1/4 of the mative resolution (in my 2560 x 1440 display this still means recordimg at 1280 x 720 with almost no compresion). Recording usually makes you to loss 1/3 of your average framerrate, but is still WAY BETTER than the Xfire recorder. I love FRAPS, it cost me around 26 € and was some of the best money I did spent in gaming.
I think it would mostly depend on your machine's processing power.
If you have like an old X2, it would probably peg it pretty bad.
If you've got a multi-core processor, it shouldn't be nearly as much of a drag.
A decent amount of RAM would also help out a bit.
Ya fraps will lower your frame rate. It's a program running. So it will require cpu time. The slower your computer the more noticeable the hit will be. karmageddon2k4If anyone's CPU is slowed down to a noticeable level by FRAPS, it's time to upgrade.

I disagree with u, i also tried it with out recording , the frame rate was dropping from 70 to 29 even in 1024 resoultion in crysis 2, i thing it lot depends on the rig u got, mine is an old one with 9600 gt, 4gb ram, q6600 , 680 sli so may be an upgrade will do, not sure cause many had faced the same issue with crysis 2,.It only put me down a few fps while recording(in crysis 2, was at 37 w/o 30-34 with),just disabled "Lock Framerate" in the Movies tab, and fraps to my other harddrive. What's a good program for recording your game vids? (besides FRAPs since it kills your fps) And in the spirit of reviving an old thread and all. :P Might as well.
