I heard they patched gta 4 so it doesnt require such huge requirements? I have an athlon x2 3.0ghz, 2 gb of ram, radeon 4850. How well do u think my comp would run it?
You might want some more RAM but I think your rig should handle it. I never really had huge problems with it though. I think the major concerns came with the fact that the slow frame rate and short pop-up distance seemed not to correllate with low spec machines. People reported having less powerful machines able to run it better than high powered ones....
There are ways of getting it to run good,one being the whole upscaling thing which i dont have a link to right now but google and you will find,its about upscaling the reflections.Anyhoo,im running everything max except the very high textures which are at high for me and view distance at 70.FPS is nice and stable/playable.My rig is quite modest compared to alot of people,E7200 cpu @ 4ghz 4gb ram and GTX260.Play GTA 4 at 1920x1080.So yes its playable if you tweak and the patches also definetly helped.You dont need a quad to play GTA 4 adequately.These are lies.

i have the same spec as yours for a second rig but i have an 8800 512mb and it works fine

Add another 2gigs of ram if you have vista or windows 7. I have a q6600 with 8800gt and i got alot of stuttering with just 2gig at windows 7( although if you have xp you might be ok)
