Hi.

I'd like to know if my PSU can handle a 9800gx2. I have a H750P-00 (750W), my rig is a Dell XPS 710 (I know, it's prebuilt). I don't know if that PSU has the 6-pin 8-pin power connector.

Also, does the 9800gx2 have the 8-pin power adapter included?

I want to buy one of those video cards, but first i want to be sure if i can use it. I'd appreciate all your help. I'm kind of disturbed because I live in Mexico and one of those cards cost about 820$ (dollars), so i'm planning on buying it from ebay.

The wattage is good enough, but you'd have to look inside to see if you have the 8-pin connector. The adapters a video card comes with also depends on the vendor (evga, asus for instance).

I opened my rig, but I couldn't see those connectors and i was afraid of messing up my rig, so i didn't removed the screws that where holding the PSU in place. Maybe i'll give it a try again and remove those screws.

Also, I'm thinking on buying the EVGA 9800 GX2 KO (if not, a XFX). I hope it has the adapter.

lol. Why was I expecting that answer?

Thx. I'd get a 9800gtx, but a 9800gx2 is way better and I want to max as many games as possible. (and in a near future).

I appreciate your recommendation, but right now I'm slightly more interested in the gx2.
If someone knows if the H750P has the 6pin 8pin connector, I could easily decide which one should I buy.

If you are not willing to see for yourself whether it has the 8 pin connector or not then I think it will be good to give dell a call.

Why?

I've seen some benchmarks and i think it outperformed all video cards pretty good.

You guys really got me thinking.

I want to play most games 1680x1050.

What should I expect from a 9800GTX vs 9800GX2 running Crysis at that resolution? (I KNOW Crysis is not the only one game out there, but it's the most demaning game, and if i can run it decently, I know I'll be ok with many upcoming games too [for a while.])

I'm tired of playing most games at 1360x768, so I'd like to know which card is better for me.

I have a e6700 & 2gb RAM 800Mhz (I'll upgrade that in the future)

BTW still don't know if my PSU can handle a 9800GX2. I was too busy in school and couldn't ask to Dell guys. :p

dont worry about it crysis will be the moist demanding game for the time to come and almost any current generation card out at the moment will last for a while (ie. 3870x2 9800gtx 9800gx2 8800gts 512mb) heck even my lousy 256mb 3850 should hold on till atis new 4 series come out

the 9800gtx is a great card for the price only 300 bucks and playing at that resoultion is a good mixture besides the 8800gtx can do tri sli so if you ever want more power just buy another one

I've used both the 9800 gtx and 9800 gx2 on crysis on high to very high settings, I'd give my recommendation to the 9800 GX2 by a lot, honestly. 9800 gtx is a great card, don't get me wrong. It puts out sick benchmarks on basically all games out there ATM. But seriously, you've got to ask yourself if you think the extra $260 for the 9800 gtx to 9800 gx2 is worth the price to you. To me, it was. :)

Yup, the thing is that a 9800GTX is not for 300$ in Mexico.

One 9800GTX is about 550$ here, and one 9800GX2 is about 800$.

I have over 700$, so if my PSU (still don't know) can handle a 9800GX2, I might go for it, cuz, if you check the numbers, 2 9800GTX are too expansive in Mexico.

Anyway, I'm still thinking about it.
