Can anyone give me a comprehensive run down of the strengths and/or weaknesses of using a DualShock 4 on the PC? Before I buy it I want to know if anyone else has run into issues with using it on multiplatform games for the PC.

Yes it works but it's barely supported by games. Luckily someone has just released a driver that allows it to be recognised as a 360 controller so you can use it for every game that allows that by default.

As for strengths it doesn't have any right now, it's only worth using if you like the controller or don't have a wired 360 controller you can use. If Sony release proper drivers that allow you to use the touchpad then it could be ideal as a HTPC controller but until then it's pretty much just another PC controller.
It works fine via bluetooth.....though you pretty much have to re-map every button. NFS Most Wanted 2012 oddly supports it almost out of the box, though.
you should buy the x360 controller instead. better support on PC games.
How do you figure?
@KHAndAnime: pretty much any game that has controller support is ready to go with the 360 controller. I was using the ds3 and switched to the 360 controller just because it was easier. Plug and play.

My 360 controller required extensive driver work just to get it working. DS4 all you do is plug it in, download the driver, and play it. Works just as well, if not better.
@Mr_Ditters: There are plenty of ways of getting your PS3 controller recognised as an xbox controller so it works exactly the same way. That's what I do. I even have it working with Bluetooth - I just turn on the DS3 and it connects wireless after a couple of seconds.
I guess I'll wait until more games support it. It sounds a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. I thought I could plug it in, download drivers, and then customize my controls in-game. Sounds like I need to emulate an Xbox controller and I don't want to do that at all, I hate Xbox.
