yea my ps3 only outputs 480p on component even thought my tv supports up to 1080i. it looks like utter garbage. good job sony my dvds look worse on your console than they do on my $15 walmart dvd player.

Yeah you need a HDMI cable then you will see a difference.
Yeah, no HDCP output over component cables, my PS3 makes a great upscaler with an HDMI cable, although I'm better off not using it since it runs so hot compared to my normal DVD upscaler.
my tv only has dvi but doesn't have HDCP. so component is my only option with my ps3. 360 is hooked in through vga. it looks grand. and my dvds upscale through my 360 so i just use that.
The best way to watch dvd's - use PC with Win DVD (6th or better) plugged into your TV (plasma best). Trimension DNM is better than everything what any player can offer. Plus Win DVD upscales better.
