I will have a Intel Core 2 duo 2.5GHZ and 4GB of RAM and I still hear that Vista will run it and games slower then XP. I understand its got bugs and more features but I also know that with SP1 it is about equal to XP sp3 in performance. So why all this complaining? Also I am honestly tired of seeing the XP theme and everything, I have personally used Vista and find it to be a far cleaner, smoother and eye-pleasing experience.

Vista won't have any problem on that hardware. I'm running on less than that and I don't have any problems with games.

VVista has run some games slower, but it makes DX10 compatible games look better when DX10 settings are used so it's a trade off in some cases. It also uses less RAM in some cases when gaming: Crysis in Vista uses 500MB less RAM than when played at the same settings in XP. It's just a shame that Vista itself will suck down more RAM to compensate.

Yeah IMO Vista is more fitting for a few years in the future where it will have service packs for better performance and most users having plenty of RAM to run it. But yeah I will have 4GB so thats plenty.

Your machine can run Vista, but honestly, most of the DX10 games don't look significantly better to justify the upgrade in my opinon. Stick with XP for awhile longer until a few more service packs come out for Vista.

Well thats the thing, if I was upgrading then I would stick to XP just to save cash. But I am building a new comp and Vista and XP are the same price so thats the dilemma lol. But now its solved, I will definitely get Vista.

i have vista, and the harware in my sig, and its fine for gaming. the odd game might run a little slower in dx10 (crysis) but generally its not a problem. crysis is the only game i play in dx9 mode because its so high maintenance.
