I completely agree! I see so much "this game sucks cos its lame" reviews from gamers. I think a lot has to do with people not being able to fully articulate their feelings towards the game, so they overly generalize and make unconstructive comments. Or maybe its because they're nubs. :p (just kidding! ;) )It's like art. Anyone can go, "that painting sucks!" But someone who actually knows something about art will be able to contructively criticise a painting with, "the analgous color scheme creates a bland palette, the asymetrical placement of shapes appears poorly/oddly placed, the medium is applied too thickly, the brush strokes are sloppy, and the colors bleed and overlap to create pockets of muddy-looking pigment."
I could say that Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is a lame RTS, or I could say that the lack of truly diverse regimentslimits the player and, in the end, creates a bland selection experience that comes nowhere near close to mimicing the game's tabletop experience. One is vague and offers no insight for the reader to understand why and what you didn't like about the game. The other details specific qualms that made the game less enjoyable to that individual, which allows readers to draw conclusions that they may agree or disagree with the reviewer. And that's very important! If the reviewer hated a game for a reason that you might consider eitherinsignificant or might even think is a good feature, then they can draw their own conclusion from your opinions.
Sorry for the rambling. I'm kind of drunk right now. Girl troubles... :(
