I had such a hell of a time with Doom 3 that Im thinking of getting a petition to get them to make another. I loved the setting, monsters, graphics(for that time), and gore so much. Only if its multiplayer was a bit better I would give it a ten.

So who else agrees they should make a forth one. With the graphics these days it would be the scariest game on the planet.

Doom4 was confimred a while back. I read somewhere that Id will keep making Quakes, Dooms and Wolfensteins.

My guess is that we can began expecting Doom 4 after 2010.

Doom 3 is actually on my list of biggest let downs in gaming. It had so much potential. They gave it great graphics and great atmosphere then spoilt it by making it a generic corridor shooter.

Yes, but only if it's got nothing to do with Doom 3. Doom 3 is okay, but I don't even want to get into that.

Ultimate Doom and Doom II are masterpieces. The slaughter-the-swarm gameplay mechanic is utterly timeless. I still play the original Dooms today, fourteen years later. And the Doom games are really the only games I've ever seen that really manage to make it work. Iconic enemies, iconic weapons and an awesome environment.

Games like Serious Sam, Painkiller and Starship Troopers have shown that the genre still works today, and that modern technology has the potential to make it better than ever, but none of these games can compare with Doom. And it's not nostalgia, I still play it today, and it's definitely not a case of first is best. The Doom games - on ultraviolence or nightmare - are just as good as it gets.

And while I have lost most of my faith in id (not to mention their choice of partner - Raven? Eugh), id is the only developer who can make it happen.

Yes to Doom 4, no to Doom 3-part 2.

I was highly dissapointed with Doom 3, however I would like to see another one and see Id Software get back on their feet. I'm actually surprised that there has been nothing about Doom for a while.

I'm currently playing Doom 3 at the moment (yeah I know - 4 years behind however back then I didn't have a decent enough PC to run the game in its fullest glory) and I have to say that if it wasn't for the wonderful engine and the PDA it's quite a boring game. I hope Doom4 (if it does arrive) improves dramatically in the game play department.

I totally agree with everything you said. My friends and I still get together and play doom multiplayer at least every 2 weeks. It's gamesplay is fast, simple (but not in a bad way) and satisfying, and the amount of fun and laughs I've gotten from it, make me realise that oldies are still goodies.

if they make a doom 4 i really hope they shake things up a little bit.

i found doom 3 fun but repititive at times. you know, walk into this room, monster pops out of no where. walk into the next room get scared. over and over. if they can find a way to shake it up i think that would be cool.

didn't love doom 3 like i had hoped i would; still liked it, but going from room to room, disposing of the 2 or 3 monster that teleport (most predictably) out of nowhere is not what i signed up for. i would have preferred if it were more like doom 2 (one of my top 10 games of all time) but with better graphics, even if the game introduced nothing new. doom 3 did have great atmosphere, and there were some tense moments, and the hell level was great. but overall, i felt it was too tedius and playing the game often felt like a chore. i actually liked quake 4 a lot better; it had a lot more variety of gameplay and the monsters sometimes worked as a team. if doom 4 is more like doom 2 with huge rooms and long corridors and tons of monsters rushing at you, then sign me up. if it's like doom 3 with room after room of individual monsters attacking the player, then i'm not as interested.

i'm excited about rage. i've been a huge id software fan since doom, and i've been hoping that they'd do something to take them back to the top. i think rage is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Doom 4 would be Great but i'd prefer it if it was more like the original Dooms. They were legends i'd still play it today but i cant find it to install on my new P.C :(. Still if it was more like Doom 3 than The original Dooms it would still be legend especially if the BFG is in it :P.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein was Wolfenstein 2.

Yeah ok, but you know what I mean, I'm talking about the new Wolfenstein game, so it will be called Return to Castle Wolfenstein 2. They're working on it for a few years now.

I thought it was in development hell. All I heard was that it was in production a few years back, but I've not heard any news updates or seen any sign that it's still planned for the future since then. Hopefully they do still plan to make it, though. I didn't really like RtCW very much at all, but I'd still like to see them give it another try.

Gonna be truthful dude, its getting kind of old. The whole the devil has taken over mars thing... wow, its just really over. I'm surprised it has made it this far. Maybe its just me, because I remember when I was 13 and the devil was cool and stuff, but I'm older now and its just not interesting anymore. I'm not saying the game with tried and true formulas are getting old, I'm saying that the population that used to enjoy those games are. We want more inovation than a marine with somthing to prove on mars... I look at things like Rambo and Duke Nukem comming out and I smile, but really, its getting to the point where developers are noticeing the tried and ture isnt working too well. Now I know I'm gonna get burned with the "what about turok and hey what about bionic commando". Well, admittedly, those games havn't been released as much as say rambo, doom, and Duke Nukem. There concepts are still interesting, and can (I dont know if they're good yet...) be formed to make great games. The average gamer today expects at least a little content from games, and doom's ideas have been worn out. But you dont have to listen to me, its just my opinion.

Glad to hear it. Hopefully it's still geared for '08 like the article says. Probably won't be until late in the year if so given that there's been no kind of media released on it yet.
