Yes, but only if it's got nothing to do with Doom 3. Doom 3 is okay, but I don't even want to get into that.
Ultimate Doom and Doom II are masterpieces. The slaughter-the-swarm gameplay mechanic is utterly timeless. I still play the original Dooms today, fourteen years later. And the Doom games are really the only games I've ever seen that really manage to make it work. Iconic enemies, iconic weapons and an awesome environment.
Games like Serious Sam, Painkiller and Starship Troopers have shown that the genre still works today, and that modern technology has the potential to make it better than ever, but none of these games can compare with Doom. And it's not nostalgia, I still play it today, and it's definitely not a case of first is best. The Doom games - on ultraviolence or nightmare - are just as good as it gets.
And while I have lost most of my faith in id (not to mention their choice of partner - Raven? Eugh), id is the only developer who can make it happen.
Yes to Doom 4, no to Doom 3-part 2.
