with all the high graphics that you needed to buy.stealthsneekerYeah man, I remember Crysis. Everyone was pissed off because you needed to pay $10 extra for the "High Graphics Edition". And Doom 4 in 2010? Lol. I would be suprised if we see it in early 2012! Also yes, it is possible but no one can say for sure.
If Doom 4 comes out in 2010 or 2011 is it possible it will be the same shock as Doom 3 with all the high graphics that you needed to buy.stealthsneekerMaybe. It's a new game. New game, New Technology.
True. I hope I can run it on ATI HD4600 series when it comes out.stealthsneekerProbably on low or medium settings.

I thought ID stated that they will try to make Doom 4 look superb, but also be available to more people than just the high-end PC users, or was this for Rage?
Eitherway, I really believe it will have awesome graphics but average or above average computer specs.
Why knowing Bethesda? Id is the dev not Bethesda. Just because they are sister companies doesn't mean they will be the same. Knowing Id the lead platform is PC. It always will be too.Yup. It'll be average looking, but probably good enough. The 360 will be the lead platform knowing bethesda. It'll be marginally more good looking, just like fallout 3 pc v. 360 is.

Doom 4 will come after Rage, as they haven't even decided if Doom 4 will be a sequel (they haven't made the story yet). So Rage in 2010, Doom 4 probably late 2011 or early 2012.
It will be above average in the graphics department by the time it releases. So it won't be crazy on the PC requirements, but you will need to be up to date. The console versions will of course not look as good.
Why expected so much out of Doom 4 graphics?? Its going to be on console it will be pushed to the consoles limits and ported to be PC it wont look that good. If you were to say there pushing the PC version forward i would have some intrest. Untill then ill accept my hardware is being held back because of console ports.
I wouldn't expect too much from Doom 4, the days when developers actually show cased their games on the PC are long gone. All Doom 4 will be on the PC is a very slightly upgraded version of the console version. It will have slightly better textures, higher resolutions and naturally better framerates.
Besides I can't say I am that hyped for an ID game these days, the guys were always great at developing game engines but sucked big time making games that used the game engine effectively. Now since they are bringing all their games to the console they can't even claim to do ground breaking game engines anymore.

Naw, Doom 3 didnt require that loads of PC Specs so i guess Doom 4 could need :
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz
1.5GB RAM
DirectX 10.1 or 11 256MB VGA
DX9.0c Sound Card
since it will use id Tech 5 not 3 so Graphics will KICK ASS
But my PC is:
Intel Core i7 920
6GB DDR3 RAM
Ati Radeon HD 5770 1G DirectX 11
Realtek ALC888S DX10 sound card.
So im ready :P

Exactely, but you have to admit: PC games can be much more stable and better in graphics than console versions but they just need TO FOCUS more on the PC Version, take GTA IV For example.
But everyone always asks why does the PC version get low framerates and too many graphical issues and bugs?
I know why: Xbox 360 uses a specific and only one CPU and exactely same amount of RAm and GPU so the game can be designed to run on this SPECIFIC specs so the game will be optimized for the ''XBOX360 CPU'' for example but PC has about 16 different CPUs that people own. Pretend that people have a PC were all gamers use the SAME CPU, the PC version wont have issues due to the optimization and more focus on stabalizing the game on the ''specific cpu'' So it's quite hard to make the PC Versions Bug free :(

If it does come out, it'll use the Rage engine, I'm sure.
Bassam-El-Ali
It uses iD Tech 5
is that the engine theyre using for Rage?
Yeah but if you had gotten it on release (as opposed to 1 year later or whenever you got it), nobody could max it on high resolution and not get a slideshow. It looked amazing for its time, although the story wasn't good (or even present at all). I hope iD put some more effort into the non-technical aspect of Doom4... their last few games have been too heavy on the tech side and too light on the artsy side.Doom 3 was the worlds biggest flop...I was able to run it smoothly on my 1.5gigs of Ram and ATI x600 GFX card with a Pentium 4 Processor 3.0Ghz.

Of course it will. The devs at id said it will use the same engine only that it will run at 30 fps compared to Rage which will run at 60 fps. Next year they said they'll show something from the game. It would be great to show some gameplay or at least some tech demo.If it does come out, it'll use the Rage engine, I'm sure.

Let's just hope they don't show just some short boring teaser trailer.

Doom 3 was not alone in 2004. Few months before was Far Cary, and few months after were Half-Life 2 and Riddick. Doom was VERY good in some areas buth some of those were better in another ones, and IMO overall Doom 3 was not the best tech engine from that year.
