Basically, it's not released yet and Valve charges people $30 for access, though lots of steam users have received 5 free copies from Steam (and none of my friends want mine because they already have it; same goes with most other people). ...trolls don't even try to be different anymore.
I dont play dota 2 because i dont like leveling and starting all over every single game. annoying...
I liked it allright. I just cant get into it because I have no idea what in the hell I am doing. Everytime I join a game all I see it "GTFO N00B!!!!" or they seem to think that I am trying to mess things up for them against the other team, I see a lot of "play better, you suck" type of comments. So I quit playing simply because I get no enjoyment out of playing with people like that. I uninstalled it and never went back because I wasnt having fun.
I don't even have any idea how these games are popular, so you train yourself to get the last hit on a mob? ooookay... And then I watch videos of 'proffesionals' playing it and they're going back and forth with their avatar trying to get the last hit...sorry if I'm blunt but these games just looks/feel pretty flipping stupid. And then the announcers making it seem so dramatic, while the player is bouncing back and forth with his toon as if the hero couldn't make up his mind to go into battle or not.ÂI dont play dota 2 because i dont like leveling and starting all over every single game. annoying...

Wow some of you guys are brainless yourselves the way you talk about dota 2, The game requires you to play more instinctively, Think, and use strategy almost in a instant, I play at almost a pro level and some of you don't grasp the concept because you are not in that level yourself yet and you justify it by making meaninless lies about how the game is played. First Dota 2 is more so a replica of the original Dota style, NOT WoW, they are two different and even the mechanics are not the same infact It is more like the first and original WoW style before it became a game for kiddies.
Â
No one is praising the game just to praise it many of you should learn the history of Dota before you even bash it and call its players "brainless" it takes a lot of skill and intelligence to even play it and this is the reason you couldn't "play" the game correctly because you are not used to playing games based on skill and instinct, you like games like COD where your hand is being held and told HOW to play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnQfdSEqGDAÂ Watch the history and actually take the time to understand what and WHY dota became popular in the first place.Â

I don't call it brainless. Every game requires some skill and if this and LoL has gotten to Pro Tournament Level then it must have some skill based gameplay involved. I tried to get into DOTA2 in the past, but just couldn't. The game requires More so than any other game i've played in my life, you have to be playing it almost at pro level to notice this, I never got into the seriousness of the original Dota as i didnt like the style because I like many others here didn't see the magic behind this game style, Every game requires skill true, but the skill level as i said before is like the Original First WoW where the game was much more difficult. LoL is like what WoW is today! it was designed to be easier to play, and because of that it lacks more depth in strategy and doesn't capture the magic that was the original dota.

Yes, I see that people that play it daily realize the skill involved. Is it true though that u have to level up from scratch every match? That puts me off as well. To me the main reason i never joined and played WoW was because i knew it was not meant for casual play, Dota 2 allows casual play while also rewarding hardcore gamers, Not once at one point did i feel put off by this, as matches last anywhere from 30-45min average for me, i at the end of the day can just go in for a match and feel like i accomplished something while a 45min game time of any RPG game is not rewarding as you need to invest hours on it or sometimes even days.Â
You start over each round but the progression is rapid and part of the fun is to try new combinations of items and use of your hero skills. The only time it turned me off at all was before i even got into playing the game seriously, a lot of these complaints about the game style reminded me of myself when i thought of the game before i even knew how to play it properly now that i know how i don't see these as a con.

That's not always true.Â
There are many MMOs that reward just playing for a while instead of hours. Â For example I logged into GW2 this morning and did a whole quest in about 20 min, which was really good, had a start and finish. Â The Secret World is also another that does this well.

That's beside the point, I guess i should put it more in the view of professional sport mixed with RPG style gameplay, it never feels that way but i guess it could be described in that way, like when you play a game of basketball the more you play it the more intuitive, you gain experience and find different ways of playing your own style to achieve the goal, but like a sports game the moment you start talking trash to your teammates you are doomed the fail as no one is encouraging another player. the main issue of the game is not the game itself but the community.Â
you have a partial community dedicated to teaching and encouraging new players, and then there is the hardcore gamers who want nothing but to win and blame the new players. I fell into this catagory myself for a few months until i realized that i have a 80% higher chance of winning a game if i encourage and teach other gamers on my team than if i insulted them. I have won well close to 200 matches and not one game was won due to me insulting another player, because its a team based game much like a sport. Like a sports game when you "WIN" a match against an opposing team its rewarding in itself the game isnt about earning perks or earning an advantage due to your exessive game time, like real life you are rewarded experience and knowledge and your own way of playing if this doesnt make sense its because no other game is like it. This game was made from a community of gamers it was never designed to make money in the first place, but valve did a good job to continue this feel and they did a bit of a item rewards as a means to justify playing but in general i just collect items, i don't buy any of them i have a ton of fun playing and teaching other players.

Yeah, I've heard the community is bad sometimes. But it's good that you act well and encourage instead of insult. Valve is currently working on this issue, one of the first ways is implementing a commending system, as well as reporting bad players. The issue sometimes i face is there is a wide range of players of all types, some are more aggressive and like to just feel powerful, others take on the roll of leaders and give every command.
Once in awhile i will join a game where my whole team just communicates a whole lot, we talk about our strategies and we plan attacks (ganks) and these are some of the most funnest games. It is encouraged to team up with good players anyway one of the first things that turned me off from dota 2 was honestly my view of how game is played, if you play it with the same kind of solo mindset that you do a call of duty game for example you are destined to lose as a team, sometimes we will go almost the whole 30min of no talking and we just play, which is okay but not the best way to play it, however it is not the worst, ive won countless matches with lack of team communication.
Which is interesting because as I said before, the real reason i'd say 90% of of time any one loses a match by a large margin is due to lack of encouragement from teammates so it's very interesting analysis as im sure valve has looked into. its a unique gameplay and when it isn't understood it's because you still have that fixed mentality of how games should, or ARE played. there is none of that in dota 2.
Basically, it's not released yet and Valve charges people $30 for access, though lots of steam users have received 5 free copies from Steam (and none of my friends want mine because they already have it; same goes with most other people). Ofcourse I am, its a dumb complaint.
