Hey guys, new to the forums. I have played league of legends for a while and never bothered trying dota cause they were so similar, but I just got into it because they added a rick and morty announcer pack and im a huge fan of the show. The initial gameplay is similar, but I find there are a lot of things that are different from league. Any tips for transitioning or a good guide I can look up. Thanks!!!

@moonmen: I have thousands of hours in DotA, LoL, and HotS. DotA is quite a bit more complex, deeper, and overall harder than LoL in every way. LoL is checkers and DotA is chess. The best way to learn is to play, do the tutorial missions, and watch pros play on Twitch. Here is a decent guide...

Try Heroes of the Storm if you want a new MOBA that isn't as demanding as DotA.

Being good in DotA is all about farming speed. Early game, make sure you have a good last hit animation AND damage. Mid game make sure you pick up a farming item and a good amount of early game items. Late game you will be so much stronger than anyone else.

Tips for playing MOBAs in general:

-Go outside to your car.

-Open the door of the car.

-Slam your d*** in the car door.

You have successfully simulated a typical MOBA match and only wasted 2 minutes instead of 30 or 50. Repeat whenever you feel the desire to play a MOBA in the future.

@moonmen: Don't go into a game blind, it will be just as frustrating for you as it will be for your teammates. Do loads of research before playing. Stick to some easier heroes 1st. Learn where to ward. If you are support, don't steal last hits from the carry in lane and deny the enemies xp. You can't play ranked until you are level 13 anyhow. So just learn the basics and communicate with your team. Best to play with friends though, so if you know some who play, play with them. Or make some in game :)

thanks. i'm on a self-initiated Dota-rehab, and this seems like a good tip.
