You might be able to register the serial with the EA Download Manager and download it direct from them, can't hurt to try. Most of the newer EA games have the ability to be downloaded from EA DLM [most of the EA games I bought via D2D have a download ready for me in my EA DLM account, even though all I ever did was register the game with EA].

Try ea dlm first, then if that doesn't work, you can install without using the disc, but i will end it at that, i enjoy posting on the fourms and don't feel like getting modded.

Nice it worked with EA Download Manager! I wish steam would do this and accept retail keys that are not just valve games.

Thats like saying you really wish that the EA Download Manager would accept keys from THQ games and allow downloads. :?

If the game is bundled with Steam then it'll allow you to do so (like Empire Total War, Dawn of War 2, and others)

I dont think it'll fly when you paid Gamestop for a copy of Dead Space 2, but then end up using Valve's bandwidth to download the game. Valve isnt really winning in that arrangement and has no incentive to provide such a service.

They do, just not all games. They have to be "Steamworks" enabled. As XaosII pointed out, it wouldn't exactly benefit Steam if they allowed any and all keys to be enabled on their service that weren't purchased from their service. Not to mention the legal and licencing implications.
