I was considering downloading The Sims 3 from the EA store as a direct download and i was wondering if it is a good idea, or should i just go to the store and get a physical copy.

It's a very bad idea to get a game from EA store.

EA's digital store gives you a limited time to download your game, if you unistall it, or something of the sorts, and want to install it again, you are screwed.

I don't see that as a big deal. Just back the game up on your hard drive and dvd. Problem solved.

Even if it is the only bad side it's a pretty big one. For me it's Steam or buy the disc, and lately I prefer the former for its conveniences. No worries about damaged or lost discs and the ability to re-download and reinstall whenever I want, even if that is years from now. And I also use the backup feature to keep local copies since reinstalling goes much quicker that way while I'm still stuck on DSL (DamnSLow).

EDIT: Wow, I never really looked at the EA Store in any detail. But I just found this. If it's true then it is the most evil service I have ever come across.
