So if I buy a external hardrive, plug it into my laptop. Am I able to download WoW and its expansion packs on it and able to play it from there? Or playing from the external hardrive; Will it slow me down from normal gameplay? Thanks :)

An external hd will be fine. Slower load time is the worst that should happen. You'll have to install it on onto the external drive.

how much slower will load times be? in seconds that is, or even minutes?

I think you can use your hard drive to play on any other computer,
my friend put WoW on his Ipod and he plays it at random people's
house because his internet isnt too fast :P

WoW only needs to be installed to the HD.. so you can move a hd system to system and not have to have it installed on that pc. I dont know how much slower load times would be, not like wow has a lot of load time other than to start it...

Can't you use an ipod as a storage device on a pc? Then you could just install it like normal...

I install most of my games on to my external drive so I won't lose anything, if something happens to my computer. I don't know about the load times being a hassle much. Well I installed Crysis in my computer's HDD while Crysis Warhead in my external hard drive and Crysis Warhead does take longer to load. Not by that much. My brother plays WoW through the external hard drive and he had no complaints with the load times or anything else. What makes it also remarkable is that my external hard drive is connected to a usb hub and not directly to the computer.

Don't try the ipod thing, it will burn out the HDD as it is not designed to transfer large amounts of data regularly.
