Is anybody lookin forward to this game. Anything made by Bioware is Gold and ever since I read a GFW article on it Ive been so psyched about it.
After playin The Witcher Im eagerly awaiting another Great RPG.

Am I the only one who's getting a little sick of high fantasy? I'm sure it will be a nice throwback to awesome classics like Baldur's Gate, but how many times are we going to fight orcs and ogres? I'd much rather see another game with a setting like Planescape or Darksun. I know they're moving away from D&D, but come up with a more original setting for cripe's sake.SentientGames
I still greatly enjoy the high fantasy, but I agree that it would be nice to have some other diverse options.

Ditto.
So Bioware abandons all us PC gamers for the console market and we should welcome them back with open arms?
Absolutely! I am looking forward to this as well but come on Bioware, we PC guys need some more lovin'.

hopefully commercial success of witcher will make them a little more attentive towards pc gaming

Seriously Black Isle Studios made made some greats rpgs with minimal fantasy or high sci-fi like fallout, planescape torment, why can't other studios do it.

Given how they dumped nwn2 onto a different company, i doubt The success Bioware has had is going to really determine what they do. Especially considering they were absorbed into the EA machine recently.

that i think was bioware's decision to focus on their on ips
with EA in picture, i am more worried about quality rather than games coming to pc

Dunno about dumping it, just being a bit less cliche would work. I really enjoyed Mask of the Betrayer and that took place in Forgotten Realms of all settings, but they managed to make it surprisingly fresh by simplyhaving it take place in a series of locations that no other games exploited yet.
But what's that got to do with Dragon Age? I don't know much about the game, but isn't it supposed to be one of Biowares unique IP's like Jade Empire and Mass Effect? So why complain about high fantasy, we don't even know what the games about yet or even what it's gonna be like... other than that it'll most likely have a dragon or two I'm guessing...

I'm guessing because studios that do it (like Black Isle and Troika) - go bankrupt. You can't go wrong with a D&D-styIe fantasy setting. I still greatly enjoy it, but yeah, it would be nice to have a little variety.
As for Dragon Age, it's BioWare so I'm definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully we'll get more info after Mass Effect's release.

Well BIS did made 5-6 Dnd based fantasy games ( Ice wind dale) before they closed. Also troika's problems i think would be the bugs that riddled their games, giving them poor reception.
Bioware did promise their would be lot more info on DA after the release of ME. Hopfully DA is in such a state thar EA cannot spoil it :P
I'm pretty tired of Tolkien-influenced RPGs as well, but since it's Bioware we're talking about, I'm sure it's another classic. I think I read it was going to be an MMO a couple of years ago, guess they were wrong, since no one has mentioned that in a while.
Still hate the fact (well, not exactly fact.. a rumor) that Kotor is being made into an MMO. That's the death of the series for me. Damnit, why do devs have to butcher my favourite game of all time?

Yes, Dragon Age is a "unique" IP, but if you read a bit about it, it's pretty clear they're straying about as far from High Fantasy as Mass Effect strays from the space opera (Star Wars and Star Trek) genre, which isn't very far. Sure you can rename the planet, add a fewcookie cutter organizations, and throw in some unique monster/aliens, but it's stillwarriors and wizards trying to save theworld from monsters. All I'm trying to say is a little variety would be nice.
to be fair, although I'm looking forward to Mass Effect. I think Dragon Age is THE title everyone is waiting for, they just don't know it yet._Pedro_
I was looking forward to Dragon Age until I learned EA bought out Bioware. This can only be a bad thing, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if we see Bioware close down in a few years after EA has milked the name for all it's worth.
About high fantasy - I'm sick of it as well. DA will probably be the last fantasy RPG I ever get, because I just can't stomach any more elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins and dragons. It's all been so over-used that it leaves a bad taste in the mouth, like a lump of mouldy bread.
I'm also annoyed that when an interesting concept does surface now and then, it turns out to be a stupid MMO. Whatever happened to creative SP campaigns?
KOTOR was a huge hit on the Xbox, so I'm not surprised that Xbox peeps like it.
Dude, you can't compare Kotor (one of the best games no matter what platform we're talking about) to Halo-series. "Yeah, just because there are no better shooter/RPG than Halo/Kotor on the xbox... and so on"- logic does not apply here. I kinda agree on Halo not having the best SP out there, but not Kotor. My impression is that every time there is a thread about best PC-RPG ever, quite a few people (including me) answer Kotor. Just because you're not into lengthy dialog (or are you?) and the feel of that game, does not mean Kotor is "consolized crap"...
People have blind faith in ME because they want to believe that there is at least one more great RPG to come out and blow everyone away this winter. The lack of superb RPGs the last 2-3 years is pretty saddening. Now I do not think Oblivion, Two worlds, NWN2, Bioshock and whatever RPG/semi-RPG people had high hopes for are bad games, but they sure did not deliver an experience that blew me away.
It seems like all efforts go into making MMO-grinds instead of deep SP campaigns. Why do you think the Witcher's so popular? I've yet to play it, but I'm wondering if all this "best RPG in recent years" is a sign of one good game standing out from the mediocrity instead of one fantastic RPG being better than all the quality games in recent years. Guess I'll find out as soon as I finish COD4-campaign... Like, in 20 minutes, sigh...
With EA looming I have serious doubts as to DA ever seeing the light of day. It seems like the DA team is little more than a skeleton crew, with a few extra people being shuffled back and forth from other headline projects. They don't have another 2-3 years to finish - EA would never let that happen, not on their coin anyway. I think they've got a year at most, and after that kiss it goodbye.
