I never finished DA:O but I want to start a new game so I can import a save into DA2. I figured I'd put some mods in, but it seems really difficult to mod. I read a guide on how to do it, but there are some that are HUGE files (JB Textures is one) and sometimes the DA Updater doesn't work either. I even tried the DAO Mod Manager and my mods wouldn't install. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

Also, what are some other good mods to get?

I've used some of the texture mods and it was just a matter of putting the files in the override.

does this work with the ultimate edition as well? because i have aces high res mod, and i get the override folder, I then put it in the packages//////core. but nothing changes, i restart the game, and its still the vanilla textures.

It's not hard to mod at all.

You should definitely try Tombs of the Undead. It's the best mod I've seen for DA:O, nothing about it seems amatuerish. Three good dungeons, good loot.

Here is the link at the Dragon Age Nexus: Link

No idea, don't know why it would be any different as the ultimate just has the DLC and expansion in it. All of the game content should be modded from the override folder.

I do have the steam version on a Win7 machine, obviously something is wrong on my end since there are many people who seem to be able to use it. will continue to try to make it work!

I've been modding Oblivion lately using OBMM/OBSE or just plainly extracting to the data directory(easy stuff IMO). Is DA:O more or less identical or completely different?

DA is all about throwing files in an override folder. Some mods can be installed by using bioware's patcher tool as well
