Oblivion is very cheap now. You can get it and have money leftover to buy another game. You should get the fanpatch, and mod the leveling system since you become much weaker if you don't level up in the correct order under the correct settings. Who likes the feeling of gimping yourself just because you didn't spend hundreds of hours researching skill and leveling system. If you do research, you will probably want to mod even more. But, all the reviews were of it unmodded, so it is not necessary.

Depends on what you want, while they are technically in the same genre they're very different games. Oblivion allows more overall freedom and is much more action oriented where as Dragon Age is more linear and story focused, more of a dialogue and dungeon crawler type game. If I had to pick one I'd say Dragon Age, about a thousand times better out of the box and Bioware's best RPG since BG 2 in my opinion. If you have no problem with mods though, I'd say Oblivion. As much as I love Dragon Age and for what it is it's one of the best, in terms of actual enjoyment I just don't see myself playing it as long as I have Oblivion with the 200 some mods I have installed. God I can't believe I just said Oblivion over Dragon Age.

I would play through Dragon Age first and then get Oblivion. Dragon Age is a great story, for me it is a one play through deal for now, but others are on their third and fourth play through which I think is crazy. Oblivion you can play forever with all the mods out there. I never finished the main quest and still played a long time.

Ahh, this is a tough decision. I loved both of these games very much, I don't know if I enjoyed them equally however. I'll just go ahead and say I enjoyed Oblivion a bit more than I did Dragon Age. I preferred the combat in oblivion and the immense detail to all the skills you can select from. Along with this, I thought it was clever as you level up and gained experience when you used your main skills, I found this really defined who your character was. I found myself excited and really drawn into my character and the skills I chose for them, I felt like I wanted to keep on making new characters to experience every possible combination of character class/skills. I didn't get this same kind of excitement from Dragon Age however, since the game works with your main character along with 3 other characters, you don't feel the need to go and make another character to try out all the different combinations.

I suppose that you could say that Dragon Age does add another level when it comes to the combat since you do have your 3 other allies alongside you in battle. Anyhow, all that to say, I preferred Oblivion over Dragon Age, but, that doesn't mean Dragon Age is at all a bad game, it's fantastic. My suggestion, play both! Why not? However, if I had to select one from the two, I would choose Oblivion.

PICK :- Dragon Age - For the story, tactical gameplay, 6 different opening scenarios for great replay value. Oblivion - For the action-oriented gameplay, bigger open-world map(I think), if you like Fallout 3. Me? I'd go with Dragon Age.

I haven't played Dragon Age (I just got KOTOR for 2 and a half bucks on a sale, so I"m gonna beat that before I think about getting Dragon Age), but I enjoyed Oblivion very much, the mods really make the game, adding a whole lot of replay value to an already big game.

Do you like Baldur's Gate or Gothic games more? Dragon Age is dependent on team tactical combat, where as oblivion has incredible first/third person medieval combat. Oblivion will probably entertain you for more hours as well, well into the 200's on a single play through.

Get both, you can get Oblivion on it's own for $10 and Dragon Age for $50 two games for the price of one console game.

Dragon Age is one of the most repetitive games I've played in a long time... Definitely choose oblivion for the freedom and the mods.

I thought Oblivion was pretty bland and got boring fairly quick. I think Dragon Age is a far superior game, I'm loving it.
