i played biowares kotor on pc and playing both 10 times over, the problem now is that the recent mass effect played with terrible lag on medium settings forcing me to play it on terrible graphics that nearly ruined the whole game for me. Having a ps3 now, and pc specs: 2gb of ram, dual intel core at 2.66GHz and a Radeon X1300/1500 graphics card.

Will dragon run ok since the graphics dont look that demanding as mass effect or should i settle for the ps3 version?

you should get it on PC anyway, its a lot better than the PS3 version. i have a 2.6Ghz core 2 duo with 2GB of RAM and an ATI radeon HD 4830 and it runs perfectly. i dont have texture quality on high though because windows 7 eats a good chunk of my 2GB of RAM.

no its not demanding, maybe in some places if you completly zoom out because there is a lot of stuff on screen. but its still not so demanding and you dont even need to zoom out completly. here are my dragon age options: 1920x1200 graphics detail: very high texture detail: medium Anti-Aliasing: x8 i dont know well your graphics card. it seems a little older than mine so you may have to play on a lower resolution and maybe lower graphics detail or AA. but i am pretty sure the result will be better than the PS3 anyway. i heard PS3 had a few framerate issues and the gameplay is missing some features of the PC version.

You probably won´t max it,but even so,the PC version is a lot better.

The PC version is more chalenging, you can zoom the camera to give you a strategic overview in battles, the interface(action bar)is more intuitive than the radial menu on the consoles,etc...

Anyway, the console versions are decent, just not good enough if you have a PC able to run the game, wich is your case.

With that graphics card in your PC the game will look a lot worse and run a lot slower than the PS3 version. The PS3 has a roughly equivalent 7800GTX inside it, the Xbox 360 has the equivalent of a X1900 XT in it. So as you can see your graphics card is well below that of the consoles and you can expect worse visuals and frame rates compared to the consoles.

I say just get it for the PS3. It should look a little bit better then what your rig can dish out.

He has a Radeon X1300, which was a low end card even in it's day. I doubt the game will be playable.

The PS3 doesn't have fantastic hardware or anything, but it is equivalent to having a multicore CPU with a 7800GTX, which is much better than his PC.

his processor should be okay though, its the same than mine and i have no problem. and i doubt there is AA on this game on the PS3. so it really only depends if he can get the same resolution than the PS3 and still be able to get a good framerate. if he can then the PC version is better. i thought he would be able to pull at least the PS3 resolution but if his graphics card is as bad as you say then yea maybe he should play it safe with the PS3 version.

If your PC can run it I'd get it for the PC. I have it for the PS3 because I don't have a rig capable of modern day gaming. It's not a pretty game on the consoles and the combat is better suited on the PC. The limited controls I have over the camera and action going on can make things harder than they should be. If your PC can't run it then do get it for the PS3. It is still an excellent game, but with a choice I would go the PC route.

I got the PS3 collector's edition on day 1 but now that I got a new rig for christmas I really regret not picking up the PC version. I would buy it now but that would be just wasting $75 I spent on the PS3 edition.

I think a some of the mods are pretty good and really enhance the gameplay. Pineapple's textures, instant shapeshifting, nohelmet, finishing move mods. I say PC then maybe go to fileplanet and check out the modpack.

With that rig, the PS3 version of the game will look better and run smoother.

The PC version has top down view , also the menus are easier to navigate, and the combat is smoother because of the ease of using different combat actions on the combat bar. The 360 and PS3 version are near identical save for graphical issues/bugs.

Your graphics card is, sorry to say it, horrible. It's gonna look like crap on the PC and it'll ruin your game experience. Get it for the PS3.

DA runs fine for me maxed out on 2GB RAM... mostly around 60fps, sometimes it will drop into the 30s but nothing major.

i didn't really have a problem with not having the top down view and the combat bar helped because you could only use 3 different abilities when attacking

get the PS3 version.

Or upgrade your GPU, something better wouldn't be very expensive.

i dont really use mods but thanks for everyones input, i guess a large part of the game is talking to other character but because there are no demos its a difficult choice, i could mayabe get the pc version and if its really bad, exchange it for the ps3 version. I dont really want to upgrade my pc as this is a rare occassion where i want to play my old pc.

PC, it's the only way to play this types of game. It's not a game that needs a high framerate. Lower settings/resolution if you need to. I have to say though, your graphics card is an antique :D You really need to upgrade, if you're on a bidget, you could get something like the 4670 for 60 quid, or you could sell your ps3 and get something better :D
