potions, potions, potions.
use one guy as a tank (alistair and use the move threaten), use your mage to get fire weapons (fire weapons spell) then just keep alistair alive and when the monster throws rocks just move out of the way.
If you're having trouble with this guy wait till you see the other bosses. How on earth do you beat this boss? My characters are at level 5, am I supposed to use a specific weapon? Also it seems he can hurt me even when Im somewhat far away..UNFAIR!! Please Help!!

spread your team out control them individually i had one person attacking him at a time i almost didn't do it at the end of the battle i was just running round and round with him chasing me while the mage shot at him from far away lol
who ever has aggro, control that character and kite the boss while the others attack it. Use your radar to tell when the ogre switches aggro and control that character and kite. You cannot tank this boss, nobody in your group has heals
Flank him and don't ever stay in front of him. Pay attention to that shockwave animation, run as soon as it starts.
Play as all four members. Pause the game every few seconds to adjust movement and give orders. I positioned a mage a bit further from the ogre, it draws his attention and allows the other fighters to heal or recharge their attacks. I'm playing as a human warrior, but it's much better and enjoyable to use all the party members.
Freeze doesn't affect him. When the mage attacks, the ogre often starts running after him.
I haven't died on normal, before applying the patch.
Well if you have the mage in your party and playing on normal, toss paralyze on the ogre. That's what i did in my first playthrought and he was almost dead by the time it ended and that's valid for almost any bosses in the game save dragons when playing on normal.
On hard, kiting as others suggested work just fine.
Uhm, use potions and whatever skills your part has available.
Seemed to work fine for me on normal difficulty. Thats both as a mage (Fire and mind blast lines) and a 2-handed sword warrior. Alistair is my tank at this point.
I have'nt gotten more than 1 or 2 hours further into the game at this point but it did'nt seem that hard to me.
Pretty much what i'm doing. Also use alot of potions and make sure you have 15-20 health potions also bombs like shock bomb and fire bomb do help alotspread your team out control them individually i had one person attacking him at a time i almost didn't do it at the end of the battle i was just running round and round with him chasing me while the mage shot at him from far away lol

orge can pull up and throw stones, and the affected area of their attack swing is large, and so if you don't run and avoid attack effectively it would seem that you will alwyas be hit.
your character is level 5...of what class?
different cIasses could form dfferent tactics; though there can be a basic strategy: mostly the Orge will chase one particular character, either the one with the worse AC rating or PC, just run around, avoid attack, and let the other three keep attacking it; be sure run into the rest of the party and so the party can block the Orge's running route.
the battle will be very easy, even on hard, if you have freeze or paralyze line of spell; two of the best entry level spells will make the battle shorter, walking bomb and winter's grasp.
if your player character is no mage, then it probably will take a bit more time to finish the big guy off...later, Orges will be just regular monsters, as what they really are.
