Out of RPG's to play. I remember having played Drakensang but stopped before beating it which is rare for me. What's the general concensus on this game? I'm into all sorts of RPG's especially DND NWN style.

The series is fun and overall quite polished, but for some reason they never really made me want to go further and finish them.

If you like old school rpgs there is not much better rpg in the last while imo.

One of the more underrated rpgs in the last while.

The first Drakensang I enjoyed but I also stopped about half way through the first time.

The good thing though is that Drakensang - The River Of Time and Drakensang 2 - Phileasson's Secret are both better games and ones that i beat without stopping (unlike the first Drakensang). Similair games, but more polish and pulled me in more personally.

The first one had promise, but was way too generic for its own good. At least Drakensang: River of Time had an interesting premise and tried to not copy every fairytale trope out there. I would recommend getting River of Time and skipping the first one completely.

You shouldn't rule out the first Drakensang, it is good too. I got pretty far in it, but here's the way to play.

So this is Chronological first play:

River of Time - it's a prequel.

Drakensang - set 23 years after River of Time.

Both games are great, get the Complete Saga off Amazon.com for cheap!

Played the first one, it felt really generic and the story and quests were very WOWish. There were no interesting and unique characters, and the quests were "kill bears" etc. But it wasn't horrible either. Felt very middle of the road. Played it for a few day, and didn't get past the first few towns.

Yea, River of Time is the best one out of the Drakensang games.  If you enjoy The Dark Eye (Das Schwarze Auge) setting/rules though, you should check out the Realms of Arkania series (especially Star Trail),  it's better than the Drakensang series. (alot more hardcore though)
