Disclaimer: I'm seriously not being a fanboy here.

The Apple In-Ear headphones are really...probably the only cost-effective product Apple makes. They have nearly neutral tone reproduction, and I find them comparible to other in-ear solutions that cost a lot more. If you're not a super audio-phile, they're a much better buy because unless you've been trained to hear the difference, you're not going to. For $80 bucks vs. $320, I don't think you're going to lose.

@ the Bose Comment: "No highs, no lows, must be Bose!" is a common phrase heard by some people who do sound at my university. They audio quality though is a lot better in comparison to other solutions (in the low more consumer end). When you start getting into professional grade stuff (and price) though, they are overpriced. Basically, when you start paying for their really high end stuff, it's not worth anymore.

yeah if you can't hear the difference between the earphones, might as well get the lower grade ones. maybe start at single driver? i do studio and backstage sound management, so i need monitoring earphones to do my work, therefore i am pretty trained in listening to sound differences.gamer_sammy

The apple in-ears have two drivers, which isn't very common in $80 headphones.
