Depends. Which do you more prefer?

Quirky likable characters in a series of interesting locations surrounded by an excellent plot? Then go The Longest Journey.

OR

Challenging and intriguing puzzles that tease your mind accompanied by a fairly offbeat mystery story? Then Syberia!

Also you'll note I said The Longest Journey there and not Dreamfall, because in all honesty if you want to experience Dreamfall fully you need to have played the original which in my oppinion is the better game anyway. but back to the topic, TLJ is more story oriented while Syberia is more puzzle oriented, so which do you prefer? They're both great adventure series so you can't really go wrong either way!

I've never played Syberia, but my vote goes to that game out of those two. Dreamfall wasn't interesting at all (all you do is run around, while you brain is in sleep-mode... puzzles are non-existent) My favorite adventure games are The Longest Journey (the first one) and Grim Fandango

Syberia is much better.

I don't know why people liked The Longest Journey so much. It was just a mediocre adventure game. It's probably because they haven't played other adventure games. Try these as well:

Still Life ( plays very similar to Syberia )

Discworld series ( funniest series ever, Noir is the best point and click adventure game ever )

Gabriel Knight series ( the 2nd is the best )

Monkey Island series ( very funny games )

Broken Sword series ( the 1st was the best, the 4th sucked )

Grim Fandango

Sam & Max series

Indigo Prophecy ( best adventure game ever )

Full Throttle

Syberia. Definitely. It's an amazing game. The only thing bad about it is it's ending, you'll just have to play Syberia 2 after you've played Syberia. But Syberia owns Dreamfall anyday.

If you haven't played The Longest Journey then you SHOULD played the game. It's better than Syberia but the graphics are crappy.

Play Dreamfall only after playing TLJ. Dreamfall is a great game but it's the weakest contestant among these games.

I played both (and I played dreamfall without ever playing the original) and I would still recommend Dreamfall. Its much more character driven, and you are never running around static backgrounds with nobody around....Its a full 3d world with PEOPLE in it. Unlike Syberia.

Syberia is definitely better than Dreamfall. However, The Longest Journey is far superior to Syberia, not only in my opinion but critical opinionas well. Also, youshouldn't assume that people who think so probably haven't played other adventure games because I have played a good majority of the games on your short list.

Thanks for all the recommendations, I decided to get Dreamfall first and it's the GOTY version which comes with The Longest Journey too and I've been playing that for most of the day and I've really been enjoying it so far. Thanks again!

I fully agree. I would begin with The Longest Journey, myself. Give the dated graphics a chance...once you become immersed in the story and characters, it will be hard to put down. *edited for spacing*
