Driver games fun?

I see people boasting about how good Driver1 was and all the rest are crap, why is that?

I never played Driver1 but I watched a bunch of videos and don't really see it as anything special.

Driver: San Francisco is out soon. I played the PS3 demo and found it horrible. The driving is not fun or challenging. Its another arcade mash the gas game with ramming police.

Can someone explain the essence of Driver1's attraction?

The only Driver game I played was 3 and it wasn't so bad.

the replays in Driver 1 where allways fun to watch.

Garbage series, first was great, but the rest were just terrible with better games available to replace them, the new one looks half bad which is a major advancement from the last one.

Driver was one of my favorite games back in 1999, however the Driver3 was bad and probably the same will be for the Driver: San Francisco.

I really enjoyed Driver and remember being really excited for Driver 2. I was quite young at the time and my parents wouldnt let me have GTA. I remember liking Driver 2 initially but after while I started to notice the problems.

PS: I played them on PSONE, not PC ;)

Good point, so many games have done it better now and with lots more content.

Driver was great back in th PS1 days also can recall what driver was where you could drive a police car and your friend could just shoot out of the car, that was fun to play.
