When uninstalling video drivers, is it really essentiel to run lets say driver cleaner pro to completely remove the old registry? I have never really used it, i always just uninstall and reinstall. But i dont think my computer is performing at its maximum recently, and its not because of spyware/virus. Do you guys think it might be related to my old drivers not being completely removed? Thanks in advance.

While I personally don't bother with uninstalling drivers before installing new ones, that's simply becuase I'm lazy.

Frankly, I'm not sure if you'd need to use something like driver cleaner pro, uninstalling the driver and installing the new one should do the trick.

Do you mean as in it's feeling slower?

You should try a defrag, and have a look at the stickied thread on how to improve your performance.

Like the other poster, I never bother uninstalling video drivers. It has never cause me any problem. You should defrag and run some spyware removal progam. Also, I usually find that my computer slows down when I've got a lot of programs installed. I notice that after reformatting my HDD and having just a clean OS, it runs better.

I ran into a problem swapping an 8800GTS for a 1950 Pro in one machine because I forgot to uninstall the ATi driver. Seriously though, how hard is it just to uninstall the driver and be done with it?

I always use driver sweeper as it's free. :D It's not absolutely necessary but it can fix annoying problems. At the very least, it won't hurt anything and keep your registry that much more trim.

If you aren't experiencing any GFX issues, I personally dont see no point. If i ever have to troubleshoot with GFX i will usually do a Clean install of GFX software.

i defrag once a week or when i install new programs, and i dont have any spyware or viruses. The only problem i really encounter is that i dont think my computer performs as good as it should in a couple of games, most notably the witcher. Its all fps wise. So i was wondering if it my have had something with old drivers not being completely removed after uninstall.
