I am thinking of buying another hard drive and adding vista, since I don't want to wipe my drive clean and do everything all over. Can I have two different operating systems on two different hard drives? also, would I be able to access stuff on either drive if I do end up doing that.

Yes you can have two different hard-drives with two different operating systems. When you boot your computer you will have the option of which HD/OS you select and if you want to choose the other one you have the restart.

Right. Each application will need to be reinstalled. You definately want to install applications on the system drive of each operating system.

hmm maybe I'll just use another computer and wipe clean my drive, that seems easiest. Unless, can you reccomend the upgrade edition? Or how does that work...

i don't really understand how this works, i hear people talk about it, that way they have vista but all their programs on xp so it works better sine vista has so many problems. how does dual boot work? you format each hdd with a seperate os? why would you want to? why not just have everythign on vista?

Ok here is how it is. You have two hard-drives and you can only access one by selecting it from booting your computer. Its like using two different comptuers but not at the same time.

what do you mean use another computer and wipe clean your drive?

you already have XP installed...just create another partition on that same HD then install Vista onto that partition. It'll give you a dual boot option when you start up the PC. You can access both operating system, both partition on the HD.

I meant that I could put the important info onto another computer wipe clean the drive then transfer back over.

So i can use one hard drive for two operating systems? If I do that, how much space does vista take up, because I don't have oodles of room on my hard drive for another OS.
