Sure if i beat the first 2 installments of the series but i have to decide 1 for now.
I'm not so much a fan of the first Max Payne, but lemme put in a good word for Max Payne 2. I effing love that game. It's not because it looks better, but the whole Max/Mona stuff is fantastic. Play them both for the story. If you wait a bit for a deal, there's a good chance you can get both for under 10 bucks. Steam had a sale, each for 2.50 a while back.
Wow. Very tough call, but I'd have to say Max Payne. Deus Ex is unique, imaginative, and a blast to play, but there just isn't anything like Max Payne. Except the sequel, 'course. Stylish as all heck, great gunplay, great visuals, and a great story. Hard to pass up.
*runs to reinstall game*
I would have gone with Deus Ex. Max Payne is a great game, but it's pretty short. It's the kind of thing you play through in a few days. Deus Ex would have kept you busy for weeks.
I beat Max Payne in ONE sitting. And then I was like.. wow.. that was cool and all, but. I mean I had just spent 40 or 50 dollars on it a few hours ago. I'd have definitely gone with Deus Ex. It is in fact criminal that you have yet to play it. But either way I would've said you should get BOTH at some point, so playing Max Payne first and Deus Ex later doesn't make too much of a difference.
Deus Ex will take longer to beat and it's good for multiple playthroughs due to different play styles. With Max Payne you do unlock harder difficulties but there is really only one way to play it.
Max Payne is cool, but there's not a snowball's chance in Mount Doom that it can beat Deus Ex for quality or quantity.
I find Deus Ex to be fun and re-playable. Max Payne is just boring. If I had a choice to keep my Max Payne Discor my Deus Ex Disc I would keep the Deus Ex disc, no hesitation, no discussion.
Max Payne is one of those games in which you just keep running around with a pump shotgun. The bullet time was so stupid too. I never used it. I just disabled it.
Tough choice. Both are great games, but I'd choose DE over MP. Get MP with the next $10 you come across.
Max Payne was a good game during a time when there weren't many new or good game available. Back during it's time the textures were state of the art. So it also had great graphics for it's time. Not that it's graphics are bad now but they were... the fact that you could shoot the walls and pieces of tiles wood and paper would fragment and fly was just so damn cool. I think it was the first game to actually emulate action flicks.
Games like Max Payne are as obsolete as Streets of rage. Deus Ex was the begining of a whole new era of action adventure games.
I guess it all really depends on what you're really looking for. Do you wantto shoot stuff like it never gets old?Or do you want a game that gives the player options?

Sorry, but....what? This has to be the most ludicrous thing I've ever read.
"The most ludicrous thing I've ever heard"
If that's true then you should watch Fox News, it'll totally blow your mind.
Also Deus Ex without doubt, it's much more involving and varied.

Max Payne is a ton easier to get into, while Deus Ex 1 has a missed the boat kind of problem. If you can just appreciate the gameplay for it's depth, Deus Ex is the obvious choice. It's such an old game though, and has such horrible AI and some poor UI elements that I only recommend getting it if you already know that you want to get it.

Yeah, cause Fox news as well as any other news source isn't telling people which band wagon to get on board. They're not brainwashing you. They're not trying toboost sales forremedy or take2,they're actually telling you how cool it isbecause adults on a news show want YOU to know how awesome it is.
Maybe they are a decade behind. So to them games like Max Payne are state of the art. Maybe you don't understand the term obsolete.

I understood it within that context as meaning that Max Payne is something that is no longer of any use or is no longer relevant. Max Payne hasn't lost its relevance in the slightest. It's one of the first and best examples on how to take cinematic elements and turn them into great gameplay elements. Please Log In to post.
