My DVD drive on my custom built gaming desktop no longer loads or recognizes CD/DVD Rom games. However, it will only load after I reboot my computer with the disc left in the drive. The drive can still load/read audio cds, movies, etc. Therefore, I believe hardware is not the issue. I swapped drives, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and end-up with the same results. I was also wondering if SecuROM or DRM could be linked with this problem? Any suggestions, theories, or help, is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Virus maybe? I'm not sure really. I would back everything up and format either way. It's good to do that from time to time, just to get rid of any junk files or malware.

I know StarForce can wreck disc drives as for some reason over time it keeps lowering the bit rate as the data transfers to point that it is 8-bit and Windows will stop recognizing it. Check this site out as it explains a little bit more and how to remove it if you do have it.
